GOP cash woes threaten House bids
The National Republican Congressional Committee, the key cog in helping to finance GOP campaigns, has banked less than a third as much money as its Democratic counterpart and is ending the year with barely enough money to fully finance a single House race — no less the dozens that will be in play come 2010.

A big part of the problem, according to Republican strategists, is that GOP members themselves — the ones who stand the most to gain from large-scale House gains — haven’t chipped in accordingly, despite evidence of solid opportunities in at least 40 districts next year and with as many as 80 seats in play, according to the Cook Political Report’s estimates.
In the past three months, only 75 of 177 Republicans — most of whom represent safe districts — transferred money into the committee, netting it $2.1 million. The average donation was just $28,000, with only 11 members donating $50,000 or more during that time period.

During that same time period, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has netted nearly $4 million from 90 of its members — with 35 House Democrats chipping in at least $50,000.

The rest of the article is full of BS media propaganda stating how the repubs will win big in the House in 2010. Speculation replaced with facts, the new face of journalism. The article itself is contradictory.

Commander AWOL Bush and Dickie 'Five-Military-Deferments' Cheney & their cabal of republicon chickenhawk crony faux 'conservatives' screwed America's economy for generations to come with their Borrow & Spend ways.

The Teabagging suckers who swallow the republicon codswollop wholesale are now feeling the direct consequences of Republiconomics. And so, apparently, is the Republicon party itself. Karma is a total freaking buggah.

6. Perhaps Core Republicans Really Know Who Is At Fault?
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 02:53 PM by studmoose
I grew up in a large and very Republican household. My father consulted with Nixon while he was preparing to resign. By the late-80's everyone in my family either switched to be an Independent or Democrat. I am able to see things that many of my friends, who have grown up in solely Democrat households cannot. I know all side of the equation and have friends of all political denominations.

The Republicans you see on Fox News and the Murdoch press franchise give a false measure of strength. Many of the remaining Republicans are actually on the verge of going Independent over the antics of the party during the past 10 years. The tea baggers, the birthers, the deathers, and the Guy Fawkers are just helping to speed their exodus. To many, the change of a political party is akin to changing religions, as they both share common centers in one's psyche. So, for people to become disillusioned in their party to the point of leaving them, is a major feat.

What you are partly seeing are the remaining Republican party members NOT willing to finance their party anymore - as it will probably not be spent properly or it will back GOP extremists. Though many Democrats, Independents and younger folks are extremely disappointed in the Democratic Party right now - as many have their own agendas and cannot act as team players (like the Republicans can), the alternative is far worse.

In New Jersey, Jon Corzine lost to Chris Christie only because of one reason - he really was a bad governor. I know, I live here and am very politically active. There were over $7 billion of 'lost' school construction monies during his watch - with no accountability. Tens of billions in planned future taxes and fees were scheduled for next year. The state had the worst business climate in the country. Almost one in four residents were collection some type of state handout. Mr. Corzine did not listen to the people and he paid the price for it. Before you get on me, explain why the state voted Democrat in the last several presidential elections, the state has 65% of its elected officials are Democrats - yet the governor lost? Jon Corzine promised to change government and run it like a business - which he did not. His failure was his alone - no one elses. Do not look at NJ as a pointer to what will happen in 2010.

The voters are really angry at both parties. They are angry that the Democrats cannot stay strong and pass UHC like they promised. But they are more angry at the games and stall tactics that the Republicans did this year. They truly are the party of NO. They plan to run on a platform that they are against UHC - Good Luck! That will come back as an albatros hanging around their neck!

One other donation factor is the increased scrutiny towards financial institutions and their employees donating money to political parties and PACs. Working for one private firm (one that did it right and did not ask or get a handout) we are restricted on who we can support.

8. Maybe their candidates don't need the RCCC b/c the corps are pledging directly
to the individual campaigns w/ the expected SCOTUS ruling making corp. donations legal?
