Edited on Mon Jan-04-10 02:30 AM by whatchamacallit

7. Because, as you may have noticed, underpants are not the only vector for terrorism.
Underpants are but one small part of a larger problem encompassing shoes, bras, airplanes used as missiles, and lumbar support pillows.

5. Not killing people in foreign countries might be a start.
This would-be bomber was angry about the killing of civilians in Yemen. How many people must there be who are angry about the slaughter and torture in Iraq and Afghanistan?

After we do that, we might deal with the problem of terror the way it has always, and pretty successfully been dealt with. We can't invade 23 countries although I'm sure there are people in our government who salivate at the thought. Most countries experience terror attacks. They deal with it by viewing it as a crime.

Terror attacks around the world increased so dramatically since Bush started his crusades, that they tried to stop the reporting of them.

One thing is certain, eternal war will not only not stop terror attacks, it will increase them.

How do we deal with our own rightwing terror groups? One group who was caught accidentally a few years ago, had enough weapons to do far more damage than 9/11. Funny, considering how serious a threat that was how little media attention it got. We can't very well invade ourselves. So, we use more sensible methods, like good police work. Terror is a crime, it is not an act of war. The response by the US and the endless fear campaign including the destruction of rights, is utterly ridiculous, and as we have seen, totally inefectual.

6. We aren't killing anybody in Yemen.
This guy wasn't even from Yemen. He was from Nigeria. We're not killing people in Nigeria either. Stop trying to legitimize religious insanity as a justification for stupid actions.

8. You don't read the news much, do you?
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/48576

I'm not from Iraq, Afghanistan or Yemen either and yet, when I see innocent people in those countries being slaughtered, I get upset.

It looks like the US has joined Saidi Arabia to bomb Yemen.

Religious, political, warmongering insanity are all the same. We however, have the ability to kill far more people, as has been done in Iraq, over one million human beings. The people seeking revenge for that may or may not be religious fanatics, but they have not even come close to the number of people our war machine has killed.

Maybe, like so many Americans, you don't believe that the lives of Iraqis are as valuable as the lives as Americans, but apparently someone does. Which is why terrorism rose around the world since we started killing their people and torturing them.

There are consequences when you kill people. Americans are not exempt from those consequences. You eg, seem to think there is something special about Americans in that they can kill and torture and get away with it while if a Muslim does it, he should be tortured and killed without trial.

Americans need to move into the real world. If they want to keep bombing and killing people who never did anything to them, then they should stop whining like a baby when the consequences of their actions come home to haunt them.

11. That's not news. That's an opinion piece from a blog and it's factually incorrect.
It's been proven factually incorrect repeatedly, not that it stops people from spreading it.

4. DO NOT VOLUNTEER TO DIE
unless you're REALLY SURE it will directly promote
a fundamental freedom, such as
those articulated in the Bill of Rights.
But, like, if you can't like, DRAW that DIRECT connection . . . .
You're prolly being spent by those willing to spend you for their own benefit, NOT yours.

With these epic levels of FAILURE, we might as well put Joe Lieberman in charge of our security.

Oh wait, he already is the senate committee chair of homeland security.
