Is it possible to disaffiliate a state Democratic party?
The Alabama Democratic Party has controlled the state legislature continuously since the end of Reconstruction and continues to vote against overturning the sex toy sale ban...

1. That stupid law ranks high on my list of stupid laws.
If I lived in Alabama, I would soooooo break that law just to defy them.

yes, I have a favorite sexologist, so there. And I'm sure she'd be happy to help her neighbors set up some sort of "Underwear Railroad"!

5. I don't think so. I have/had a problem with the party here, called
the DNC for assistance in pressuring or whatever. Though they agreed with my position, my accuracy in describing the problem, and my outrage at their shenanigans (lawyers acting in the worst lawyerly way), they said all they could do was call and hope for some reasonable outcome. DNC to it's credit did call, did talk, and then called me back, annoyed as hell about the answers they got, but alas, nothing could be done, not even so much as taking back the salaries they were paying for within the state party.

Nope, I think that's a definite no go.

6. They were the ORIGINAL mint-julep southern democrats
the ones holding the other end of the lynching rope. Most of THEM became republicans out of disgust for the liberalisation of the party after the fifties, and good riddance, but Alabama just has recidivist stockholm syndrome.
