Elliot Spitzer just recommended it on the Ed Show.

http://moveyourmoney.info/

Move savings and checking accounts out of banks that received TARP money but are not doing enough to help rejuvenate the community with loans.

They have a tool for you to locate a responsible community bank in your area. (Having some trouble with the search -- i guess everyone watching the show had the same idea as me!)

1. I hate to break it to you, but this is exactly what the monster banks want
small depositors to do. It costs them more than you are worth to process your account every month. If you want to stick it to them, leave your checking account where it is.

Now if you have several hundred thousand dollars in bank CDs, move those. That's something they might notice.

3. actually, NO
the monster banks depend on small depositors FEES as a major segment of their profit model.

Take a look at your Januaray statement and read the fine print.

4. Unless you're in the habit of using overdraft protection
or bouncing checks, you're not going to generate most of those fees.

Trust me, if you can balance your checkbook and live within your means, they want you gone.
