TSA Takes Boy's Play-Doh Before Flight
TSA Takes Boy's Play-Doh Before Flight
Agents Have Discretion To Confiscate Toy

Airport screeners seized a boy's Christmas present -- some Play-Doh -- before his flight home after the holidays, St. Louis TV station KTVI reported.

Christy Pitman said the gooey toy would have entertained her sons, Josh and Nathan, on the flight home, too.

"Nathan has the empty Play-Doh packaging from the Play-Doh that was confiscated in New Orleans by the TSA last week," she said as the boy played.

"I had the kids, and my husband was there with all our bags. Josh and I were sitting, getting our shoes on and, my husband kinda motioned to us and said, 'They took our Play-Doh.'"

She said a Transportation Security Administration employee took every can out of the package and put it on a table, which made her son fuss.

"I tried to explain that those were the rules, but it turns out it's not prohibited on the TSA's Web site, so apparently those aren't the rules," Pitman said.

Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 04:36 PM by Sen. Walter Sobchak
I simply have to believe the limited training the TSA fucktards receive includes recognizing the very distinctive stench of plastic explosive,

9. If common sense was really all that common
Then it wouldn't be remarked upon when actually exhibited by someone.

19. Hoosiers think they have common sense and that they are better at it.
That is why many times it is referred to as Hoosier common sense. But after 20 years I haven't seen any proof that they are better at it.

8. They took our peanut butter.
It's pretty obvious play-doh won't make it past the screeners.

10. I will be boarding with a "video eyewear" device
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 03:37 PM by annabanana
that is designed to projeect an ipod image to acreens mounted into a pair of eyeglasses that have attached ear buds and other various & assorted wire-y connections..(they cut down on the eyestrain of watching an ittybitty ipod screen)

It will require some assembly before I can use them. . I wonder if I'll
a) be allowed to bring them on board and
b) be jumped by the passenger on my right. . . .

14. Does it have play-dough in it?
Assuming no, you and the completely-irrelevant-to-this-thread device should be OK boarding.

11. My days of flying are over....
Glad I got to see the world before now. Time to get a few stray dogs from the pound and stick around the home front for a few years.

Its just not worth it to me anymore.

12. Is chewing gum allowed on flights nowadays?
What next? No talking, no eating, no sleeping, and no drinking?

Can't they tell the difference between C4 and Play-Doh?

Why don't they save an assload of money and make everyone fly nekked and just knock everyone out for the duration of the flight? If they are snoozing, they aren't bombing. If they are nekked, they aren't exactly carrying anything on board. Just a bunch of nekked sleeping flying people.

Hey! It CANNOT be any more ridiculous of an idea than the crap they are coming up with nowadays.

13. My daughter forgot she had a mini multi tool on her key chain, they took it, but her
traveling partner had a cigar cutter, basically a razor blade inserted into a piece of plastic, no problem.

17. Actually, they sell really small containers of Play-doh
that are usually given out as Halloween treats or party favors. I bet one of those per kid would have been OK because it probably falls under the size limit for carrying on toiletries, etc. Until this past week, I forgot that I had bought a pack of 88 of those lil suckers for Halloween treats.

22. Note to parents
Flying is NOT what you remember it to be. If you MUST travel with kids, be prepared for cranky ...lots of cranky..

anything more than a book, will probably be a no-no, so do everyone a favor, and send everything else home from Grandma's, via UPS.. It will arrive at your doorstep a few days later.. and Granny will probably have even washed & folded your dirty clothes for you ..and maybe tucked in some extra goodies for you :)
