Fat people kicked off dating website
A dating website which only allows beautiful members has booted off thousands of people for piling on the pounds over Christmas

More than 5,000 people were kicked off BeautifulPeople.com for losing their looks over the holiday season.

The online dating site, which has a strict ban on ''ugly people'', said it had thrown out more than 5,000 members from around the world who had put on weight.

-------------------------

Robert Hintze, founder of BeautifulPeople.com, said: ''As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld.

''Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.''

According to the site, managers have been kind in breaking the news to former members.

Each is said to have received an email encouraging them to re-apply when they are back to looking their best. They have also been sent details of recommended boot camps.

16. I suspect the same.
Especially because, look at the timing--a time of year when many unimaginative people are "making New Year's resolutions to find that special someone."

I mean, how do they know who's gained weight recently? Are their members actually saying to the group, "Oh dear, I porked out over the holidays! Here's a picture just taken of me for everyone to vote on to decide whether or not I deserve to stay here"? Duh.

Unless the site has a policy that everyone has to submit a brand-new photo of him/herself to the site for voting purposes every week or so, and can actually confirm that the photos submitted are those of members and not of someone else, its policy of "only allowing beautiful people" membership is impossible to enforce to begin with.

This is like using "Going out of business" to launch your business.

33. I'm Sure You're Correct.
Nonetheless, if Robert Hintze had any balls, he'd post a picture of himself in a speedo on his fucking nazi website and let people vote on whether he should stay or go.

5. What a fucked up concept
From their website:

* Do looks matter to you, when it comes to selecting a partner?
* Do you want to guarantee your dates will always be beautiful?
* No more filtering through unattractive people on mainstream sites
* Meet beautiful people locally and from around the world - now
* Attend exclusive events and private parties

and:

BeautifulPeople is the first community of its kind. To become a member, applicants are required to be voted in by existing members of the opposite sex. Members rate all new applicants over a 48 hour period based on whether or not they find the applicant ‘beautiful’. Should applicants secure enough positive votes from members, they will be granted a full membership to the BeautifulPeople Network.

The vote is fair and democratic.
BeautifulPeople does not define beauty it simply gives an accurate representation of what society's ideal of beauty is.

This latest move sure sounds like THEY'RE defining "beauty".

Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 03:46 PM by DainBramaged
As with some news networks, headlines that bleed always get the most attention here.

10. Reminds me of a Barney Miller episode where Det. Harris and Barney were eligible to become
members of a club that catered to the beautiful people. Played for laughs, which is only way to approach something like this.

But how much weight did those people put on to get thrown out?

11. Let the "beautiful people" eat their own. They deserve what they get.
The truly beautiful people, meanwhile, will go about their richer and more meaningful lives.

17. Oh, look at how they "explain" this. I call bullshit.
According to BeautifulPeople.com, "vigilant members" called for drastic action after users posted photos of themselves celebrating Christmas and the New Year--revealing they had "let themselves go".

Uh, yeah, right. Because everyone knows that if you're thin and you go to a party and really chow down on all the food, and someone takes a picture of you at the party, the picture will come out showing you many pounds heavier from all the food you are eating. :sarcasm:

They aren't actual people with a weight problem. They are shallow, horrid little people who put on a few pounds and now their shallow horrid little peers are turning them away.

20. This is a bunch of silliness. How would they know if their clients were fat? Nobody is going to
volunteer that information. People lie about everything on dating sites - they would not hesitate to just keep quiet about their weight.

21. I think this website is an excellent idea

Here in Columbus, we have an area we like to call the "Asshole District," where all the meat-market bars are clustered. It serves perfectly to keep all the shallow, narcissistic, boring people in one place. This website appears to be the electronic version. ;)

on this beautiful people dating website are a mainly a bunch of self centered jerks. The people knocked off should consider themselves lucky.

America the Beautiful. They were very up front about their discrimination policy, full of themselves and brutal. They encouraged the filmmaker of the documentary to apply and I believe that he was voted down and rejected by their "members". They are pretty despicable and I cannot believe that they even have that many members.
