I just wanted to post a follow up to my earlier thread, clear up something, and a bit of an apology
I posted this earlier:
At some point you just say you are done. And I am at that point.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7402222

I did so out of frustration with where we are right now - I am still supportive of our dem party, I just think we can do better.

The last few days have been hard for me. And earlier today I had two issues (on top of hanging with the X and talking about her health issues) that hit me rather hard.

My youngest son came over, needed some info for his MEPS stuff for the army. He was at boot camp and ended up coming home as he had psych issues (his mom died in 2005, my first X - and his step-dad was a real ass to him). He called me tonight and told me it is pretty much a go, just needs his psych eval and off he goes (again) to boot camp. Going into infantry (again) - even though he tested high enough to go into any area he wanted.

When he came over, I was over at the X's house. I helped him with the paperwork - he put me down as his dad, even though I was not legally his dad for many years (long story).

Then, shortly before I posted, I got a call from a lady at a sky diving place (I had sent her an email over the weekend). She said she could help me with getting my X a gift certificate for a sky dive. I did not expect her to call me, let alone so late on a Tuesday.

When the X found out she had Parkinson's (or as I have said, maybe MS - hope they test her tomorrow for it, not sure why I wish it were MS and not parkinson's...) she used to listen to the song "live like you were dying (link below)" and talked off and on about sky diving.

Being that she has gotten worse I looked into getting her that jump. She can go in April when weather is better.

That call and my son going back to army just hit me hard (my oldest son is already in the Army and is at Ft Hood, heading to Iraq in a few months).

I don't care that she is my X. She is my friend, and I am her best friend. She rants about her health to me, crys about it, and today she was upset that her health care from the state was ending, and was scared about it all (and was upset they would not fill her scrip for her cough syrup with codeine). My daughter won't have the dental care she needs at end of month either.

She worries about how our daughter is handling it all.

All of it just came to a head today. I do, and will continue to, vote for dems. I do think though that we have some in our party that don't have our best interests at heart. For them, I will not vote.

Thanks to you all for talking to me, and sorry if I go off the deep end at times - and sorry for the times I have gone off here on folks, and I have before, I am just not always at my best. I will try to be better in how I reply to others and not be so snarky. DU has seen me through some hard times in life, and I want to thank you all for that (although I will say, if you are a jerk to me expect the same back LOL).

Here is the song/video I mentioned earlier:

3. Trying to :) just having a rough patch and a huge backstory I won't go in to
Sometimes, I just need to vent - and I can't to my immediate family, and most all my friends have died.

DU has been a blessing to me in so many ways. May sound silly to some, but that is the reality of it.

8. I daydream sometimes.
I daydream that instead of reconciling, our Dems behind closed doors look at each other and say the same thing, "We can do better. We can do much better."

And Obama would then use his bully pulpit to say, "Yes we can, " one more time. And we would get back to work and send enough Senators to make Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson insignificant, as is their just lot in life.

And we would do it. Instead of just saying it.

I daydream sometimes.
Well, that was fun.
Okay then,
Pragmatic Mode -on.

and releasing the pain.

from my house. I always thought paragliding would be as cool as skydiving.
Anyway, enjoy. Hope things get better.

11. it seemed to be well received
as a 'screw the Democrats' message is typically well received here.

Be that as it may, you and those you love certainly seem to be going through some harsh experiences. Certain;y ought to put my own frustration about not being interviewed for a promotion into perspective.

I hope you hang on to see better days. Keep fighting.

15. I feel maybe I was a bit broad brushed
I just feel I could have spoken better and been more clear in my rant. I wasn't, mainly because I was upset, and when I am I don't always post as clearly as I wish I had.

It may have seemed to some that I was against all dems or such (Probably because I used language like 'change' - not sure if you saw the now deleted sub threads). I did not mean to imply such nor did I wish to imply that I was not happy that we had a dem president.

Simply put, I could have been more clear, just been a bad day, and I could have written better how I felt.

May not be a big deal to some, but DU has been a real friend to me and I wanted to clarify how I felt on it all :)

Silly? Probably, but I have a lot of friends here, and the only way I can clear things up is to post.

20. If you don't tell the waiter there is a hair in your soup how are they going to know?
We have to voice our frustrations to our Congressmen or they wouldn't even know what to fix.

Thank you for your post. Reminds me of a more simple time in my life. Well, not really simple - but I don't want to go into it all right now. At any rate, thanks for taking the time to reply.

23. Thank you. It's always so hard to watch those you love suffer.
In fact most of the time it is harder to watch someone you love suffer than to endure suffering yourself. Hang in there. Enjoy every moment with those precious people in your life. Enjoy it all. The smiles, the laughs, the cries, the hugs. I remember when my husband was very ill and while I was scared I was also happy just to be around him, just to be in his presence. You may not know it but you just being there for your ex and your daughter, I am sure you bring them so much comfort and happiness.

14. That's what DU is for
You'll find plenty of caring people here who will offer you an ear to bend and some words of encouragement. Doesn't sound like much but it is good to hear when you need it.

Hang in there. Can't make it better for you but I want you to know I'm pulling for you.

One word of advice - never go sky diving on a bar bet (dare). I did that and when I sobered up the next morning and remembered what I had got myself into, I tried to hide under the bed. BUt my buddies found me anyway, dragged me to the plane and almost pushed me out the door. As it turned out, it was nowhere near as scary as I had imagined, but shortly thereafter I got married and never got the chance to do it again.

every once in a while."

Heck, you're only human, and I love humans!

I don't think you've ever snarked me, but all's forgotten anyhow. I truly wish you and yours all the best. May this year bring you all 1 million joys.

18. I don't see any reason for an apology.
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 04:11 AM by pecwae
The majority of posters on that thread support you and your right to voice your opinion through and over your personal pain. That's what it's all about or should be. Those who would chastise you needs a heart scan because there simply must be a stone there instead of a warm, living organ.

All the best.

edit for spelling

24. What you are going through is hell on earth.
The health system in the US is criminal.

It is what Obama had hoped to fix, after what he experienced with his mother.

I also understand that the task to fix the health system is fraught with problems, and a lot of strategic moves have had to be made to get the bill as far as it has. It is the first time in 40 years that something has gotten this far.

My best wishes are for you, all of the sick people in this country, and for the bill to pass and that it actually helps people.

Also, this advice may not be well accepted, but from my own experience with illness I have had to deal with myself - watching one's diet is very important. Avoid crap, processed foods, bread and dairy. The food sold in the US is criminal. Avoid red meat that comes from animals not grass-fed. Avoid poultry raised in mass-produced facilities.

The blog here should be good for all problems, not only diabetes:

25. you should feel free to vent here
. . . so many folks will identify with your frustration and feel better to know someone else has the same frustrations welling up inside themselves. I'm hoping your life sorts itself out to a point where it's more manageable and livable. You are not alone.
