A new political star is "born" on MSNBC!

It didn't take long for CT's own A.G. Richard Blumenthal to be trumpeted as saving the CT Senate seat for the Democrats! As a longtime admirer of our AG I was amazed that he's getting such attention and in such a flattering way...

Mika was all over herself gushing about Blumenthal, a fact that makes me uncomfortable.

My own personal take on Blumenthal is what a good friend he has been and is to Planned Parenthood of CT (now PP Southern New England since its merger with PP of RI). He and his wife, Cindy, helped out with our Greenwich fundraisers when I was working for PPC late 90s and until 2004. Her parents, also residents of Greenwich, were also among PPC's most stalwart supporters (her dad is Peter Malkin who owned the Empire State Building at one point). I once asked Cindy how it felt to be such a visible Democrat in Greenwich and she answered quite seriously that it wasn't that big of a problem in Greenwich. I raised money from lots of couples in Greenwich where the husband was a Republican and his wife would be a Dem and a strong PP supporter.

He is widely popular, not only among progressives (of which he is surely one) but also to the general public as a consumer advocate, always in the news on the side of the public against the rich and powerful. Dick is one person (and perhaps the only one) on which my "independent" neighbor and I agree.

Dick Blumenthal will make one helluva Senator...get ready for your new hero, DU!

I am sure he will. Joe's ass is grass with lots of people in CT. I guess what teabaggers we have here are his only supporters...and maybe some numbskulls who don't know what is going on...

It would be nice if we could get Chris Murphy, one of our Congresspersons, to run against Joe, but that won't be till 2012...Chris is terrific and young. He know his stuff cold, esp. health care reform.

So we have some really good people in the wings...new, fresh voices and faces.

All in all, it isn't a bad thing that Dodd is retiring. I would have a heavy heart as I went to the polls to vote for him, but he's better than a puke, and that's not saying too much...

He is only a year older then me. He is young and fresh, something we need in CT.

Just the thought of Lieberman crooning his crap in a debate against Chris makes me laugh. Joe looks and acts like the old, ugly fart that he is. Chris is smart and energetic. I like him a lot.
