Not impressed by Obama in 2009

He didn't exhibit strong leadership in my humble opinion. In fact, at times he seemed to be 'missing in action' and you didn't see him very much for some reason.

Obama needs to start providing a clear progressive vision and no-holds-barred leadership if he is going to be a good president IMHO. Instead of trying to please everyone and leaving a lot of people unhappy, he needs to please those who got him elected in the first place - LIBERALS.

I think Obama may be frightened of appearing as the 'typical black liberal' and that is why he is trying to appear as a centrist. I say just be bold and show that it is a proud thing to be a liberal of color, its not something to be ashamed of!

So Obama please be a strong liberal with a bold progressive vision for 2010!

7. I studied the man's voting record and tuned out his speeches

so my bar for him was set pretty low: as long as he didn't make things worse, he would meet my expectations.

He's actually done a bit better than that even though he's stuck with a Senate dominated by conservatives in both parties.

I still hope events knock the lot of them to the left but I do realize just how adverse such events would have to be.

Remember, our President told us that we are the ones that had to hold him responsible for his governing. We don't need to be the GOP that spouts "You either are with us or against us" and march in lockstep with everything that their party says or does, we actually need to take the President up on his word of holding him accountable to his promises.

Just because some of us are disappointed with this President thus far, it doesn't mean we would rather have Palin, McCain, etc. etc. It's a ridiculous assertion on its face.

And yes, he's been much better than Bush in some areas, but in others he certainly hasn't strayed too far from the standard that was set before.

You have no idea what I have done outside of a message board - which by the way was designed for all of us (even you) to discuss our feelings on certain issues.

But to quell your curiosity - yes, as a matter of fact, I have supported health care reform and attended town halls. Some of them were run by the GOP cabal that dominates our state politics and I was greatly outnumbered, but I went anyway because that's what we have to do to get anything done in this country.

18. Where does the notion come from that if you are disappointed with Obama in 2009

that somehow you would prefer Bush or Palin or McCain? I would have been much happier if Obama was as president as he was as a candidate, showing passion and leadership and a man who would fight hard for what he believed was right.
