I recieved my DNC 2010 Presidential Survey...
I can't donate because I'm unemployed, but in addition to being a fundraising appeal, the thing asks for rating the President's performance on various issues, a categorization of the importance of issues and a little space to write in my "thoughts about President Obama, the Democratic Party, and the issues facing our nation."

I'm tempted to write something that begins with "Dear tone deaf motherfucking wastes of air" but I will probably tone that down a bit.

The question is do you think anyone will even bother to look at it if there is no check? Or even if there is, is this just a gimmick to get some money by pretending to give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that I actually have a voice?

Or, am I just too cynical?

How on Earth do you know that?

26. In another life I did some time with an improv group.
and even tried to make a living doing standup.

(I looked at your profile.)

28. Don't think we've ever met; the closest thing to improv I ever did in Chicago
was to attend a Second City show. I have a tee-shirt! :D

29. I worked at their children's theatre for years...
...writing, directing, casting, choreographing, etc.

If you attended a show there, you probably heard of it, aka

"Sunday, Sunday, the little bastards' fun day."

3. I write back and tell them what I think when I get their fundraising letters
and cite every issue I am angry about, in detail. and I wont send them one cent.

4. Write them a check for 1 cent
that will cost them more than 1 cent to process and deposit and they MAY actually read your remarks. I strongly doubt, though, that these assholes can be made to care what any voter thinks until they are beaten badly.

16. Trouble is that will cost me more than a penny.
Since I hardly ever write checks anymore, I have an account that has a per-check fee. Overall it's cheaper. I suppose I could tape a penny to a piece of cardboard as I think Warpy suggested, but I'm going with the see-if-you-can-figure-out-what-this-empty-envelope-means method.

And I'm not even sure a beating will do it; I think most of our "representatives" are a lost cause. I feel better represented by Ed, Rachel & Keith.

6. I like the "tone deaf" that part I would keep.
I would toss the expletives, and send it. I would also explain to them that you can't contribute because you are unemployed.

And if you can scrape up the 44 cents without imperiling your continued vitality, I'd send it.

Maybe some one will read it.

7. Several times I've sent them just one dollar bill
along with a note citing the reasons they're not getting more. I know it's a waste of time, but it makes me feel better.

That should be obvious. They just want money and the credibility that our "support" gives them.

11. Send them a penny taped to a piece of cardboard.
You can then tell them that's how much the hidebound conservatives have done to improve your life over the last year and that if the party doesn't figure out a way to dump them, they can get used to the idea of losing Congress while disgusted Democrats stay home on election day.

You can betray your base only so long before they become so alienated that they consider you irrelevant.

Their base is the center, by the way, not the far left, and the conservatives have betrayed the center at every opportunity.

19. Rank 13 priorities 1 thru 14
Did you fill out the page that lists 13 priorities and it asks you to rank these issues 1 thru 14?
Next to "improving education" (which I ranked 6) I added number 14 -- "Learn how to count to 14":wtf:

Nice catch!

I was planning if I filled it out to make everything #1, except "wars in Iraq and Afghanistan" which would be like 16.
