Dear Wall Street, Your Worst Nightmare Is Coming To The Senate

We know the three Republicans vying to take Christopher Dodd's Senate seat (Schiff, McMahon, Simmons) and now here's the Democrat: Richard Blumenthal, the CT Attorney General.

During his tenure as AG, Blumenthal has followed the Spitzer-Cuomo-Brown activist model, going after large, publicly-hated corporations whenever possible.

These days that means finance.

The reason these AGs do this is to springboard to higher office, so obviously this was the moment that Blumenthal was planning for.

Among Blumenthal's targets: Countrywide and the hedge fund lobby.

Talk about 180 from the current situation.

2. I never heard of Blumenthal before tonight. When I saw him on TV, he

reminded me of Spitzer! His looks, not what he said. I have the TV on in the background and when I heard the name I turned to see what he looked like. I think all he said was that he was running. I like him already!

4. I am just hoping that Blumenthal doesn't get

corrupted by Washington politics. He has really been a fighter for CT consumers. I just hope he never loses that fire.

Either corrupted or otherwise rendered ineffective. It happened to our Governor, Granholm. She was real hell-fire as an AG in MI but as Gov has been unable to best the Rethugs.

I am so hopeful of Blumenthal. He's a great A.G. I know him and I know he will make us a proud, progressive U.S. Senator! All hail!!!

14. This is the downside of losing someone like Dodd...

years of recognition in DC gives him clout to get things done not only nationally but for CT. Blumenthal is a fighter...like a bulldog. He is like Spitzer sans hookers (I hope). If he can keep up that fighting spirit then I hope it won't take him too long to be able to get some clout.
