Sarah Palin is standing by her claim that Democratic-authored health care legislation includes the infamous "death panels" - even after the assertion was labeled the "lie of the year" by a prize-winning fact checking organization.

The former Alaska governor told Sean Hannity, in a taping of the conservative firebrand's radio program on Wednesday, that she was "not gonna back off" the criticism that the health care bill would pursue cost saving measures by rationing end of life care.

"If the health care bill goes the way Obama wants it, we're gonna have something very much like foreign countries' systems of health care like the British, and it's the American people -- if we have our health care paid for by the bureaucracy, by government -- depending on our health condition, depending on our age -- we're gonna be subject to bureaucrats deciding, panels and commissions deciding -- just like they do overseas -- who will be worthy of receiving the health care that government is going to provide."

"So that is the death panel that I referred to, and I won't back off on criticizing that aspect of the health care bill."

idiots, especially with journalism or english degrees. imagine my shock when a news director for one of the local stations told me this summer that journalism students don't feel it necessary to actually be competent in the english language. I asked him if the students--by then, actual employees of the news department, were all graduates of the sarah palin school of journalism. for some reason, he did not find that amusing. the illiterate hacks in his department didn't amuse me, either.

Not even considering that many people are denied coverage for a lot of different claims, there has always been considerations made based upon your age, ability to pay, and life expectancy. If you need a transplant and can't afford the cost of the meds after the TP, forget it, you're not getting one! If you are 80 and need bypass surgery, forget it! No matter what treatment you need for survival, if your not expected to live more than a month or two, forget it!

It's a fight right now to get pain meds to make EOL easier!!!!

Come on Sarah, the problem with the HC bills is not Death Panels, but that neither bill eliminates them!

My own parents - both 81 - are getting excited about the Death Squad coming round any day now to take them off to The Camp. They would have gone already but my Dad just had to go into hospital when he had some chest pains and my Mum's new digital hearing aid (NHS, "free) was taking some getting used to and she didn't hear the pounding on the front door.

I myself have MS and thus am no use to society. I thought the Squad was coming for me the other day but it was a false alarm - it was the NHS delivering my (free) brand new motorised wheelchair.

It's confusing - anyone would think the government actually wanted us to live.

This Palin woman is a moron. How dare she talk about what happens in Britain when I would be very surprised if she even knows where it is. After all, you can't see us from Alaska.
