Freepers Confused Over Libby's Trial, LOL!
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 04:35 PM by K8-EEE
It's funny how the Faux Misinformation Channel that makes up the main source of their "knowledge" just doesn't seem to prepare them to make any sense of events, when there's testimony, oaths etc. involved instead of propaganda & rumors. THEY'RE SO CONFUSED! Check it out:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1775616/posts

went over to the mediabloggers link and found this:

Fleischer begins by explaining the duties of the WH press spokesperson: “talking to the press, both formally and informally” and communicating with them in a variety of ways, ... Fleischer is composed and articulate on the witness stand. He handles questions about the “sixteen words” in the State of the Union address with ease. Through late spring, he was asked about it by the press but told reporters there was other evidence that might have supported the claim that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger. Later it emerged that the information the White House had used “was wrong in its entirety.” http://www.roryoconnor.org/blog/?p=213

What? I thought the 16 words were later found to be true and that Bush and Blair are standing by them. Why would Fleischer say this? Are those the blogger's words or Ari's? They are in quotes, so I am assuming Ari said it. More confusing now...

21. Not just that, they are willfully ignorant. I have seen many of them
over in freeperland admit to only watching Fox News because it's the only network that agrees with their opinions. They get their "facts" from Rush and his ilk. They don't want to hear anything but the "truth" that they agree with. Anything else is considered left-wing propaganda.

And the war in Iraq.

And tax breaks for the uber-wealthy.

And taxing those fortunate enough to already have health care.

And ending or privatizing social security.

These people are too dumb to really know or understand the issues.

And they vote.

42. Actually we did find W of D's BUT
The fact that we did so makes it even worse.

We found an ammo dump with 200tons of explsoives - but did we have the troops that found this area patrol it and keep it safe?

No they were entrusted with it for a few brief horus and then told to leave it alone.

(This was shortly after the Shock and Awe campaign)

So after less than 24 hours of gurading this site, these troops were ORDERED away! To leave it alone... So 200 tons of explosives fell nto the hands of Iriqis - and are probably the reason why so many of our troops have fallen to IED's

What if they had been the notorious WMD? Well, the above inaction sure doesn't indicate
that there EVER WERE any protocols for our finding the sinister weaponry.

But, seriously, first, Armitage cops to "unknowingly" outing a NOC and, now, Fleischer is doing the same thing.

I don't believe either one of them but that's not even the point. The Bush administration has consistently advanced the notion that they are the only ones capable of saving us from terrorism. However, if the outing of a CIA agent with years of critical, covert dealings on WMD nonproliferation issues was truly just a bumbling error, such ineptitude soars past the level of criminal incompetence.

The people charged with keeping us safe from terrorism should, at the very least, be held to the standard of "knew or should have known," when it comes to matters of this magnitude. Unless I'm mistaken, though, the law actually does allow them to play the "We're Too Stupid" card. x(

Ari's words contradict their frame of reference. Therefore Ari can't be telling the truth. The bald facts smack them in the face and bounce off. I see where some are blaming the judge in a convoluted attempt to support their frame with props they have been trained to use.

36. Actually, some of them do get it.
Am I close to the lilliputian prosecutorial character of Fitzie? No, its more serious than that, but not by much. Scooter Libby told the grand jury he had no idea who Valerie Plame was until Tim Russert brought her up to him on the 10th. Ari just testified that Scooter Libby, on the seventh, three days before the Russert Conversation, that Scooter told him about Valerie Plame by name, and even listed the department of the CIA she worked in. That is not an error in memory. Libby lied. He didn't break the law by outing her. He lied to the grand jury. There is no way you can be telling Ari about Valerie Plame and her department in the CIA and forget about it, then "remember" that Tim Russert told you about it 3 days later. He lied. Same thing Clinton did. I will be intellectually honest here and say that he needs to be convicted on this. If the president wants to pardon him fine, but Libby lied about a crucial fact in this non-case when he was under oath. It was wrong. Fitzgerald could have decided not to prosecute, but what kind of message does that send? He was investigating if a crime took place, and to know that he needed the facts of what happened, and Libby tried to snow job him. Remember, at the time Libby testified, it was thought that the reporters were going to get away with refusing to testify. So he decided to lie about what he knew, blame it on somebody who wouldn't testify to contradict him. If I was the prosecutor I would be pissed for him wasting my time. There would have been zero charges here if Scooter told the truth.

So, this particular Freeper is pretty close to understanding what's going on. What none of them are willing to admit is that Plame's status was classified. Of course they can't, can they? If they admitted that the whole thing suddenly becomes about Cheney committing treason...

43. Libby Is Screwn By "The DC Jury Pool"
Fresh FR shit today, watch out, don't step in it! The problem is the damn JURY SYSTEM...

"I have so little faith in the jury system anymore. The DC jury pool is 90% Democrat, mostly black, and government workers or on welfare. They hate whitey, hate "the man" and hate Republicans. I just don't see how Libbey gets a fair trial. The evidence is hard to follow even for people who have closely watched the case from the beginnig. I just think it's a hopeless situation. Fitzgerald knows this and is cynically playing the deck already heavily stacked for conviction. He is a disgrace, and really makes this ordinary American deeply distrust the system. If this travesty can happen to someone like Libbey, we average fok haven't got a prayer if we're ever caught up in a judicial meat grinder."
