A good source of information (IMO)... I came across it while looking for "PRI-D" (to buy via online sources). This "PRI-D" stuff will be used to treat the fuel that I use in my "supplemental/emergency" kerosene heater. But I think the information related on this page might be of interest to others as well (not only for kerosene, but those using diesel and ethanol fuels)...

6. personally, i think "E10" and "E85" were/are methods to extend OIL PROFITS...

unfortunately, gasoline stations in my area sell only E10 and E85 (for use in my gasoline powered: car, mower, trimmer, tiller, chipper, chainsaw, and blower/vac). But while on the subject of "fuels" and "cars" ... when I'm finally willing to let go of my two "2000 model year" vehicles ... locating "alternative refueling sources" will be an important factor (as I weigh exactly what/which replacement vehicle/s to purchase)... and, on that note... here's a useful link... perhaps especially when planning lengthy trips, FAR from one's "home base" and familiar refueling sources:

I never knew ethanol gas could be so problematic.

Have you noticed the new thing Shell has?The nitrogen enriched gasoline? How on earth can an inert ingrediant help your car engine? Hell,virtually everybrand of mayonaisse is 'nitrogen enriched'.Why? Because adding nitrogen fluffs up the mayo.The result is they can put LESS mayo in the jar,therefore increasing their profits by savings on the amount of actual mayonnaise they bottle.
So why are they adding nitrogen? Is it to 'fluff' up the gasoline so that they can place less gas in a gallon of fuel?

My sister says her Mini runs best on this stuff, and she's tried most of the brands of fuel on the market in it. I wondered the same thing as you, but had another question: doesn't nitrogen put fires out? Why would I want something that put fires OUT in the gas?

11. hmmm, i honestly knew nothing about the new "SHELL GAME" ...

I don't watch much TV, and when I do I tend to avoid COMMERCIALS. Then there's the fact that there was only ONE Shell station located along the routes I typically take... and that station CLOSED (the lot is now completely cleared, is nothing but "pavement & curb cuts, and has been for sale for more than a year now").

You would think that the nitrogen in the air the carbarator mixes with the fuel would do the trick then.

But the most revealing reason behind Shell's efforts to push nitrogen-enriched gas might be its decision to suspend research on alternative fuels. In March 2009, Shell announced it would hold back indefinitely on funding and research for solar and wind power. Hydrogen power was given the boot, too. Analysts cited recent drops in oil prices and an economic downturn as possible reasons for the move .
