Some news stations are just plain sloppy.
The guy who typed this up minimum wage or what?

The dead cop is on trial?

And in the girlfriend's testimony, the word is "conscious."

Trial begins for Revere officer killed in fatal shooting

Posted: Today at 12:30 pm EST Last Updated: Today at 1:18 pm EST
REVERE, Mass. -- Opening statements were heard Friday at Suffolk Superior Court in the case of a Revere police officer who was shot and killed.

Robert Iacoviello, Derek Lodie and Gia Nagy are accused of killing officer Daniel Talbot in September 2007.

During Friday’s opening statements, Talbot's girlfriend testified and described what happened the night he was killed.

"He was laying on the ground. Billy was holding his head, so I couldn't see anything, but he was gasping for air. He wasn't conscience, but he was trying to breath. I knew he was shot, but I couldn't see it, because Billy kept his head covered,” said Talbot’s girlfriend.

The trial is expected to continue on Friday afternoon.

2. Update 1/9 3:30PM EST
The headline's been changed to Trial begins for Revere officer killing. But the "conscience" and "breath" are still there.

3. Minimum wage does not mean stupid.
Nor does it mean sloppy. Those on minimum wage are probably the least likely to be sloppy because they are the most likely to lose their job.

4. Laugh it up, but at most newspapers, the reporter writes the story but somebody else...
...composes the headline.

And with regard to the quote in the story, are you sure the person
testifying didn't say it exactly as it was quoted?

5. They apparently have no proofreader.
I saves them money at the expense of intelligible writing.
