Of course, there has always been some talk about Iran, but it seems like just the last couple of weeks they've really ramped up the tough talk. I guess now that Bush is bogged down in Iraq, he needs a new "target," and Iran is next on his list. I just can't help but notice that the talk is very similar to what he had been saying early in his administration. Nothing specific, but he is clearly targeting Iran, and he is now clearly shifting away from Iraq to Iran. He just has to have a boogeyman to go after.

1. Pretty soon he's going to blame the whole Iraq invasion ...
... on his bad geography skills ... "IraQ ? We've been in Eye-rack for 4 years? Woopsie! Here I thought it was Eye-Ran ... well, let's get ta' bombin' ...we got lost time to make up for!"

:spank:

10. Great sign in DC: "Don't Iraq Iran"
The drumbeat is getting very loud. Before spring Bush's itchy finger will pull the trigger at Cheney's behest unless we convince congress to get ahead of it NOW. Please call your congressperson and ask them to sponsor a bill to require Bush to go to congress first.

These fuckers love war.

2. Not very delicately either. I'm waiting for the punchline that 9-11
was a partnership between Saddam Hussein and Iran (never mind the two sects of Islam hated each other), so one-down, and one-to-go.

5. Bush and cheney are getting pretty bold .
It's become their new talking point added to 9/11 and Iraq now Iran even though Iran has been in their target for a while now .

I tend to feel that this is their out , if they attack Iran even if they have no troops or back Israel who could attack first they may loose support as if they have much now but once this happens stopping it is another matter . It will put all else in a tail spin this is what I feel they are banking on .

6. Media is doing its part in ratcheting up the fear stories about Iran
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 05:13 PM by wishlist
No question Bush has latched onto using fear of Iran as justification for the troop surge in Iraq and media is conveying this fear meme constantly, failing to question the legitimacy of some of these claims about Iran being such a dire threat.

7. It's all part of the "greener image" of the WH...
It's very easy to recycle rhretoric, speeches, policies and planning when all you have to do is change the "q" to "n."

Weren't we at war with Oceania last week?

9. No kidding!
Today * was saying if Iran interferred in Iraq he would "deal with them harshly." Not threatening with war yet, but as you said, starting slow. Like he started off chasing Bin Laden, couldn't catch him so went after Saddam ("OOOO look who I caught" much beating of chest)meanwhile Bin Laden is laughing his ass off. Now he's losing ground in Iraq so he will move on to something else, look out Iran!
