I'm not promoting religious stuff, but thought the info was interesting.
Certanly things I never knew.

The Little Things

As you might remember, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was His turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her Alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike Because of an auto accident.

One of them Missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take Time to change.

One's Car wouldn't start.

One couldn't Get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot.

He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today..

Now when I am
stuck in traffic,
I miss an elevator, or
I turn back to answer a ringing telephone,
(all the little things that annoy me),
I think to myself,
this is exactly where God wants me to be
at this very moment.

Next time your morning seems to be
going wrong,

..the children are slow getting dressed,
you can't seem to find the car keys,
you hit every traffic light,
don't get mad or frustrated;

It may be just that God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you
with all those annoying little things
and may you remember their possible purpose.

10. when I see something like this it reminds me that if your time is
going to come and an event is in the way of you lasting to that point, sometimes fate makes you take a break, a different route, etc so you can survive. Just a thought.

2. I think of things in this way, sometimes. But then there's always
an opposing story of someone who was able to catch an earlier flight home on a doomed plane, or took a different route to work instead of the usual way because traffic was bad, and ended up in a fiery wreck, etc. Kind of ruins the whole "guardian angel" thing for me.

15. if you are willing to give up the whole good/bad dichotomy, life is very different.
But it isn't all that popular a concept.

Someone gives you a horse- getting the horse is good.

The horse throws you and you break your back- getting the horse is bad.

3. Apparently He was too busy watching over the others to help those who went about their daily
routines.

I have faith; I don't presume to know why a benevolent God would allow this to happen, but I sure as hell don't think he singled out a few people for fortunate "accidents" that day and let thousands of others perish.

5. god also designed and made the terrists...
and is responsible for their actions as well as the actions of those who avoided 'god's plan.

When is this 'god' going to take responsibility for his/her actions.

Notice how this 'god' only takes credit for the good things he/she does.

11. why should God take the blame? They could have been better
people and not assholes who murdered innocent people. Free will. Why aren't I skinny? I like ice cream. My choice, my fate, not God's.

17. when will humans take credit for the good and bad we do. And that means everything we do-

from deciding to get on that airplane that gets hijacked to driving the car that gets front-ended.

Imagine if we took full responsibility for everything that befalls us.

It's possible to live life as if you are never a victim. Not a popular concept but it's an old one. And very empowering.

4. And if you were standing in the room that the plane hit on 9/11...
you were exactly where God wanted you to be, because God wanted you dead.

So if what you say is true then God wanted those other 3,000 people dead. And that's supposed to be a comfort to us?

7. If one were to believe that a god had anything to do with coincidences
such as a person (and thousands worked at the trade center) getting donuts, or a blister because of a new shoe, or - pick one from the list - why would not that same god have had an errand or a failed alarm clock for the one who did perish.

8. And what about the people who were having a great morning until the first plane hit?
Kids didn't fight, everyone ate their breakfast, and all the lights were green...had God just decided it was their time to die?

Maybe this is just an urban legend as I'm sure many on your list are. I'm all for not sweating the small stuff but I'm not exactly comforted by the idea God micromanages the universe so closely that some get their clothes stained to save them from the same fate God allowed thousands to suffer.

edited for clarity

12. I call BS.
It has probably been debunked on Snopes, but I am too tired/lazy to look it up right now.

And assuming it is true -- what about the thousands who DID die that day? Where they exactly where God wanted them to be too? Why did God save some people, but let others perish? Why not save them all, or hell, prevented the attacks from happening in the first place?

16. coincidence IS coincidence. It's odd that so many people feel a need to put "only" in there
to disparage the word.

14. IMO, it points to Resistance. The more energy we waste on negative reactions the less is available
to direct towards positive ends.

That is why DU so often disgusts me.

So much of what is posted here is reactionary and fighting yesterdays battles rather than channeling energy for what is to come.

19. What an annoying collection of
useless information. That head of a company that survived because his son started kindergarten,
worked for Cantor Fitzgerald & Co was a prominent player in the trading of credit default swaps.

Credit default swaps are one of the risky financial tools used to bring this country to it's financial knees.
I guess god loves and blesses Wall Street tycoons more than the average person. Imagine that.

20. On the other side of the ledger, remember Korean Airlines Flight 009 in 1983?
One woman who was scheduled to take that flight arrived at the airport to notice that she had forgotten her passport. She hurried back home (a two-hour round trip) and made the flight at the very last minute.

She shouldn't have bothered, because all the passengers and crew on that flight died when the airliner strayed/deliberately flew into Soviet airspace and was shot down.

I recall that story from a New York Times article profiling some of the passengers on that flight.
