38 degrees, cloudy and rainy all day in BONITA FUCKING SPRINGS, FLORIDA!!!!!

(yes, sorry, it needed 5 exclamation points)

I lived in "The Motor" through the 1990's so it isn't like I haven't had winters before, but dayum! This is Florida!

It is supposed to be;

*"When you've got it bad, we've got it good" around here.

(*1980's Florida winter tourism promotional slogan)

DU'rs that have been bearing all the snow for the last few weeks, you do indeed have my sympathy.
Everybody stay warm!

Edited because some DU'rs are too damned observant and picky!

4. "Human accelerated climate change"
Yup, it's real alright.

FWIW, we had a really hot summer here too.

Weeks and weeks of temps in the high 90's with humidity so high, could could have kept a fish alive carrying it around in your hand!

2. Delray Beach here
Weather is about the same as yours. For quite some time I've been saying that the only thing that makes this area worth living in is the weather. This past week has left me feeling a little ripped off.

Ah well, it's supposed to be back to terrific by next weekend.

3. Sunny and 56 here in Olympia WA
Unusually warm for early January. It would be about mid March weather here too. Hopefully that means we'll skip the February freeze this time? God knows I don't need the ridiculous heating bills.

8. Global Warming... no doubt......
Just give Goldman Sachs all your money and they will trade carbon tax credits on the open market and this will fix the environment and everything will be OK!

See how easy that was?

10. Show Off!
We've had a pretty nasty winter so far in Chicagoland. Snow, then cold, then snow, then cold, repeat.

And a very cool summer.

Probably the other shoe will drop and it will be dreadfully hot and humid this summer.

As someone who believes in the thermodynamics of atmostpheric warming, we can only have so many unseasonably cool spells in a row.

11. Thermodynamics
Here is my theory.

The warm ocean waters are pushing north, and warming the air in Alaska and Greenland.

The warm rising air in the Artic rises, then cools, then drops, creating a high pressure zone in the Artic and is squeezing - much like a pimple - the cold dense surface air out of the Artic. The path of least resistance for that cold air is over the land masses.
