Poll question: Are you going to vote in the MidTerms?

The reason why I'm asking is because I keep hearing one pundit after another questioning if the Democratic Base is going to be motivated to come out and vote during the midterms.

I consider DUers a part of the base, and personally I think the pundits are full of crap.

Let's see....

Casting the vote is only the final act in the process. Better to ask, will Democrats talk up our candidates, raise funds, inspire our neighbors to go to the polls, and find rationales for involvement greater than "our candidate's not a Republican." Absent an intellectual base and an emotional motivation, the party could find itself at quite a disadvantage against the teabag nutjobs.

49. Well, I am a DK guy who voted for Obama

and he is pretty much as expected "far too conservative for my tastes", he was far better in my opinion than the alternative which was offered (McCain) . In 2010 & 2012 I will go to the polls, but that does not mean either he or any other particular candidate will get my vote, as I am finished voting for what I consider the "lesser of two......." I am also exceptionally dissappointed with Congress and in particular my "Democratic" Senator McCaskil, (who will never get another dime of my money) so we will see what the future brings in the polling booth.

Vote or not, I feel we can complain. My friend's main complaint is that his vote doesn't count, and with what we've seen from Diebold et al I can't say with certainty that he's wrong. He still gets to complain though, and his complaints are pretty good, to be honest. :)

But it's like in my town people want to complain about the city council, but don't get off their butts to vote. In Texas, we're busying trying to get Perry out of office, we need people to vote to get rid of these fuckers.

I had a friend last night, we were talking about how he needs to update his driver's license address, voter registration, etc. He said he doesn't need his voter registration until next go around for president. I said "oh hell no, we gotta get rid of Rick Perry, you better update that address and get your ass out there or I'll beat the crap outta you." ;)

My rural precinct has had no live voting since 2007 ; all by mail. I missed one election because I thought the mail ballet a sample ballot and went to the elementary school for voting to be turned away.

I do not support the DLC/neo-liberals. They are essentially neo-con in economics, social, and foreign policy.

Obama has been a disappointment in multiple issues by direction and form not speed of policy change; I did not expect a quick fix to anything.

My Congressman is Keith Ellison, who is a pretty decent guy.

But even more important are the down-ballot races, the local races that REALLY have an impact on my everyday life. I want good people on the city council, the park board, the school board, etc.

If I were in western Minnesota, where pseudo-Democrat Colin Peterson reigns, I would definitely vote third party, because there would really be no significant difference between him and a Republican.
