Curt Schilling (Boston Red Sox) needs to STFU!
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 04:54 PM by 11 Bravo
This dumb ass thinks that Hillary Clinton needs to keep her thoughts to herself vis a vis Iraq. I get it, Curt. You have mastered the art of painting the corner with your pitches and bleeding through socks, but your political acumen needs to be shared with the public. But Hillary, who by ANY reckoning is a brilliant woman who has been a highly effective Senator, "makes you cringe". If you truly want to indulge your cringe reflex, Curt, listen to your boy Chimpy try to string together a coherent sentence.

By the way, I am not a Hillary fan per se. I haven't forgiven her the AUF vote, and I've had it up to here with the DLC and "triangulation", but when a dipshit like Schilling starts to run his mouth, he needs to be slapped down.

1. I thought politicians were paid to have opinions about Iraq.
Just like he's REALLY REALLY paid to play a game.

2. not trying to piss you off
but what is different about this than any other celebrity giving their views? You may not agree but it is really no different than a Rosie or Susan slamming Bush on the war...or anything for that matter.

4. The Huffington Post reports that Schilling has decided not to take on Kerry
for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts.

I personally felt that Kerry would have crushed him like a potato chip.

Curt made the right decision.

If Curt disagrees with Senator Clinton, I suggest he vote for someone he does agree with. For some years now he's been a gifted athlete and a rightwing nutcase.

5. It pains me to have that ass on the Red Sox.
As a life long Red Sox fan, I so enjoyed 2004 - the perfect season - that is until Schilling started yelling "Vote for Bush!" during every interview. It really took the thrill out of the victory.

Schilling hasn't shut his mouth since he came to Boston. Little does he know, his bloody sock doesn't give him carte blanche to say whatever he wants in the face of Boston fans. He'll find that out soon enough, once he goes down to yet another injury.

6. I'm a sox fan who really dislikes him but we can't give cover to the "___ needs to STFU" argument
just because someone famous who isn't a politician has a political opinion. What he needs to do is try to voice his opinion in an arena where someone will actually call him on his dumbness.

9. I don't think its that he's famous, its just that he has not the first ounce of tact
He rushes to microphones during the season to wax philosophical about how Bush is great and liberals are in bed with terrorists. Plus, he just expects people to listen to him just because he is the great Curt "Bloody Sock" Schilling. He gives no reasonable argument, just the typical right-wing slogans and usually in a sports arena.

Fun bit of trivia: Schilling and teammate Mike Timlin displayed peace flags above their lockers at Fenway with a sign below that says "Footprint of America's Chicken".

11. right, but the X celebrity "needs to shut the fuck up" is still a universal sign of either hypocrisy
or, if you're consistant, McCarthyist/O'Reilly-esque/head-up-your-ass obliviousness.

17. It's a really hard thing to do...
He took a fantastic event and made it painful, even in memory. It still makes me want to call him every name in the book...tell him where he can go..but that only reflects on me. Instead I think of him as a pimple on my ass...

Send His Kids
I think the best response to people like Schilling is to say send his kids. If he likes Iraq so much then he should sign his kid up for the war and ship that kid off. If the Republicans and Republican athletes like Bush and the war so much then they should allow their kids to be used to perform the esculation. I figure there has to be more than 21,000 Republicans who have kids of military age. Therefore, they can put up their kids for the esculation and then allow other people's children who do not want to go to Iraq to stay home. There are kids going to Iraq for the fourth time if so many Republicans love this war they would send in their fresh blooded children and let the kids who have already been to Iraq numerous times just stay home.

What's stopping Schilling from joining the military? The mega-millions he'd miss out on?

20. Just another ignorant big-mouth chickenhawk sending our kids to die
in a useless war while he watches the war according to Fox News on TV and makes gazillions of dollars for throwing a ball.

8. Maybe everyone show write to a Boston Paper
and tell him that. Just because he was lucky enough to play baseball and there are probably a heck of a lot better players who never got a chance, that makes him an expert. I think we should all write to a Boston Paper and tell him to try to measure up to some of the real ball players. Like the Babe, Rogers Hornsby, Lemmon, Cal Ripkin seems like he is all mouth.

15. Tad bit ironic
that he thinks Hillary should not talk about her opinions on Iraq but it's okay for him to do so. So who exactly gets to speak their mind in Curt's world? Fantastic pitcher and I hope he stays on the Sox because as long as he lives in Boston his vote will be basically worthless thanks to all those wonderful Massachussetts Liberals out there. :)

The Army enlistment age is up to 42 now - you'll only be 41 this year!

18. My reaction to Schilling saying this surprised me
as I am decidedly not a HRC fan (to put it mildly), but when I read that that schmuck said that, I felt outraged at his gall, and even protective of HRC - a feeling I found mildly uncomfortable, but it was unmistakeably - Leave Her Alone.

I dont want HRC to get the nomination for many of the reasons that others don't, but that mindless twit best leave her alone.

And I'm a rabid Red Sox fan, to boot. My dream is that the Sox win every game Schilling's not in, and he gets knocked out in the first inning wheneve he pitches. I actually root against my favorite team when he's on the mound.
