When Did the Republicans and Herbert Hoover Stopped Being Blamed for the Great Depression?
Edited on Mon Jan-11-10 12:52 AM by louis c
10 straight years of a Republican dominated Congress and 12 years of Republican control of the executive branch. The 1920's were a decade dominated by Republican economic policies. Adam Smith's L'aziaz Fare approach to economics.

But, back to the point. When did the Great Depression become Franklin Roosevelt's fault or the fault of the Democrats in Congress?

Here's the simple answer. NEVER. Because it wasn't their fault. It was the fault of Republican ideology and Republican control that allowed deregulation of banks and markets.

The same thing is happening now, yet we let our asshole right-wingers try to blame the President and the Dems for the mess they created.

They caused the mess. Many economists point to the repeal of Glass-Stegall, which passed a Democratic controlled Congress and was signed into law by FDR in 1933 to be the start of our current economic collapse. Glass-Stegall was replaced by Graham-Leech in 1999. Do you want to know which party those two belonged to?

This is a Republican economic disaster and don't let them forget it. It may take years to get out of, but it is there baby and don't let them desert it.

4. Don't worry, louis c. Hoover will be forever tagged with the Great Depression.
The GOP has been trying since 1932 to rewrite history. It won't happen.

Still, because truth matters to we progressives, Bill Clinton did sign the repeal of epeal of Glass-Stegall.
