So, the lord said NO to labor unions??????
Edited on Mon Jan-11-10 10:45 AM by Ernesto
"WHEREAS, An increasing number of Seventh-day Adventists are finding it necessary to explain the position of the church in relation to joining or financially supporting labor unions and similar organizations, We recommend,

1. That the Seventh-day Adventist Church hereby reaffirm its historical position that its members should not join or financially support labor unions and similar organizations."

1. I think the conflict goes back for decades

Unions at one point "forced" their members to walk the picket lines on their Sabbath.

Sometimes things got violent.

Their "prophet" (Ellen White) recounted a number of "visions" where she railed against unionism as antithetical to their faith.

2. What I don't understand, and it can never be explained is this.
Why does God talk to these asinine preachers and congress peopleonly. Because every time they come up with a stupid reason for doing something they say God TOLD THEM TO DO IT. Why doesn't he talk to regular folks. Does HE discriminate. Remember God told bush to go to war.

3. They just don't want their members to join any other "organization"
If you're not dedicated 100% to the church, you might get "led astray".

4. Well it is biblical.
Slaves are suppose to accept their lot in life and wait it out for paradise that awaits after a life of obedient servitude.

Yeah, a true book of enlightenment, that bible!

5. That is really funny when you consider that some of these people
who formed a few dozen of these church's in the state of michigan and then went to work for the Big 3 auto makers. But like I said before I've seen and known these anti union union workers, not one of them would be willing to give up union wages or union benefits, they just don't want to see other people who weren't blessed by god to have these union jobs.

These same people boycotted Krogers grocery stores because they were unionized yet when Krogers "sold" the Kroger stores to a guy named Al Kessel who renamed the stores Kessel's, they flocked to the stores while the unions boycotted the stores. The anti union union workers found it outrageous that a stock boy was being paid $6 an hour when other stores stock boys got $3.25 an hour. The outrage was their groceries cost a few pennies more then at non union stores and the really odd thing was after Krogers became Kessel's the prices stayed the same as they were when the workers did have a union.

This started right after Reagan fired the air traffic controllers. What made it amusing was the Kessel stores sold all Kroger brand products and after Clinton became President Kessel sold the stores back to Krogers, they just took the Kessel's signs down and put Krogers signs back up and there were no unions at the "new" Kroger stores.
