They only care about getting his quote repeated as much as possible so the next racist comment that comes from them can be defended, 'It is no different than what Reid said!'.

We should focus on the fact that it was said in private, it was an incredibly stupid and thoughtless thing to say and Reid was in the wrong. Obama accepted the apology from Reid and it is time to move on. Defending what Reid said is not a smart thing to do. It helps the next racist repuke argue their case.
