Jeezil Pete -- what happened to J.C. Watts?
I didn't even recognize him on Blitzer a moment ago until he started to speak. The guy looks like a cadaver!

2. He's had a rough life lately.
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 05:01 PM by AndyA
A family member shot and killed someone a year or two back, and things have just gone downhill from there.

Edit to add: It was his Brother who was charged with murder.

J.C. Watts also fathered two children out of wedlock, failed to pay income taxes for several years and had liens filed against him, and has a sister who is basically a street whore.

Fine upstanding Christian family, wouldn't you say? Typical of a Republican, though. "Do as I say, not as I do..."

5. Yeah he can still land gigs as a GOP-reconstructed "model Negro" on TV news

Without any of his personal failings ever held against him or so much as alluded to. It's amazing. (He's not responsible for the misdeeds of his brother or sister though--not saying you were saying that, but I'm not saying it either and nobody should infer it).
He's a tax-cheat, and a deadbeat dad; but none of that matters because he's proof that there are SO black Republicans, and that's all that's needed to make him an angel on the Mainstream Media. (A Judas Goat is more like it.)

9. failed to pay income taxes for several years...
wonder what time period that was - was he in Congress - living off of other people's income taxes?

3. JC
Every time I see him on TV I wonder why? J.C. isn't worth the paper his birth certificate is printed on. NO one in the state of Oklahoma is more morally corrupt than J.C. He wouldn't know truth and honesty if it bit him. Maybe the devil is catching up with him. J.C. is to morality and J. Imhoff is to intellect.

6. He's Paying The Wages of Sin ...
... next to Clarence Thomas, he was the biggest butt wiping Uncle Tom on the planet. Then when his past secrets were revealed, the Republicans no longer used him as their smiling shoe shine poster boy. It's taken quite toll on his sorry ass.

10. Another 7th Day Wonder On The 8th Day
It's so easy to like JC...down home and folksy...until you read about his background. A pampered jock who slid by or got ahead based on first, his ability to throw a football, and secondly because of his skin color...and he milked both to the hilt. He rose above the racism of southern college sports by embracing it and then letting himself be used as some kinda "role model" as to how blacks had advanced. He got lots of extra chances and people looked the other way to his personal flaws and quirks because he was a meal ticket and/or stalking horse. That all came to a crashing end when he got to the House.

He rose quickly only to hit the "white ceiling" in the boys only leadership club. He was great to send out to raise money at sports banquets and put on TV, but DeLay never trusted him and only wanted him as windowdressing. JC played the game until he saw there was no more to play...now he's "pundit" that is as conflicted as they come. Must suck to be him these days...even though it's hard not to like the guy...or pity him.
