A big Thanks to my state senator John DeFrancisco
He might be a republican... however he did his job and responded to a letter requesting help with my husband's unemployment insurance situation. His office responded with an email two weeks ago and then today, one of his aides called my husband and told him he followed up again with the state unemployment office and my husband should see a check by the end of the week! My husband is thrilled. He has been so down in the dumps as there have been no jobs posted on the recorder at his IBEW local. He has been laid off since right after Labor Day.

Background: My husband filed an unemployment claim in NY on November 7. He had worked out of state for part of last year and the other state had his SSN wrong. He sent proof (copies of all his paystubs) and was told repeatedly every Monday when he called to be patient, the other state has 6 weeks to respond and then he will see something, just keep certifying. He did certify and called every week as well to see what the status was. No one at the unemployment office was willing to check on it personally, they put him off saying they would call him back and never did. He emailed the governor, and received an email stating they forwarded his email to the unemployment office. When my husband called at 8 weeks, the state employee at the UE office told him that there was no such 6 week waiting period and they had to wait for the wages to be mailed (NY does not handle interstate over the computer like every other state does). He nearly burst a vessel. It was out of desperation that I wrote our state senator.

He came through for us. I don't care what party our local guys are, actions are louder than words.
