Do the Freepers and Tea Partiers realize they have a LIBERAL for a Candidate in Massachusetts?
I was doing some reading of the Candidate websites for MA-SEN, and came across the following tidbits for Republican Scott Brown:

Abortion

While this decision should ultimately be made by the woman in consultation with her doctor, I believe we need to reduce the number of abortions in America. I believe government has the responsibility to regulate in this area and I support parental consent and notification requirements and I oppose partial birth abortion. I also believe there are people of good will on both sides of the issue and we ought to work together to support and promote adoption as an alternative to abortion.

Pretty much the Clinton position of "Safe, Legal and Rare"...

Marriage
I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. States should be free to make their own laws in this area, so long as they reflect the people's will as expressed through them directly, or as expressed through their elected representatives.

While this language would allow a state to ban gay-marriage, it would also allow a state to permit it. Not very "moral" if you ask me...

Israel
Israel has made enormous sacrifices in an attempt to secure peace – including unilateral withdrawal from Gaza. I support a two-state solution that reaffirms Israel’s right to exist and provides the Palestinians with a place of their own where both sides can live in peace and security.

Two states? How's that supporting God's Plan for the Middle East?

I understand why a Republican would have to take positions like this in Massachisetts, but I'm not sure the Teabaggers are going to be that understanding...

2. They won't like it, but they won't oppose him either,
For the repukes, getting 41 is more important right now than ideology, and it's not like they have a candidate to fill the void. If Brown tries to pander to them, his chances will go down even more.

5. Liberal on social issues = probably libertarian
Lots of Republicans lean toward libertarianism. That's no surprise.

A real liberal is liberal on economic issues.
