and Reid is far more pugnacious and ready to fight the GOP than the previous two Daschle and Mitchell (and while I liked the latter, he was way more conciliatory). You have to go back to the 80s when Byrd was majority leader to find more fight rather than conciliation to the republicans.

Not a cheerleader - but sometimes get frustrated with the lack of long-period perspective.

The Senate might need to elect a different leader but we have 5 or 6 DINOs in the Senate who need to go before Harry. He is likely to lose his election here in 2010 and that will be one less Democratic Senator. And one less that generally voted for Democratic policies.
