http://www.theweeklyfeed.org/2010/01/12/ben-sollee-interview/"Yesterday I got the pleasure of speaking in length to Ben Sollee, who’s 2008 album Learning To Bend set a new high water mark for what you could accomplish with a cello, some folk music, and a whole lot of political soul. He returns with some friends in tow this time with the disc, Dear Companion, a duet/collaboration record with fellow Kentuckians Daniel Martin Moore and Jim James (Yim Yames/My Morning Jacket) who held production duties. In this expansive phone call, we chat the origins of the project, having Jim as a producer, the in’s and out’s of the LP, and the theme and reason of the whole thing, mountain top removal, to which proceeds of the sales are going to aid in educating and halting."--------------------------------------
Worth a listen, as is Mr. Sollee's first record. Any DU music lover who hasn't looked into and listened to this talented progressive should give him a little time, IMO.
