Scenery just as distracting as cellphones

DETROIT, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Cell phones aren't the only things that distract drivers -- North Carolina researchers say admiring the scenery can be just as bad.

The North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center said Tuesday among the other Top 10 driving distractions are changing CDs, fiddling with the radio, talking with passengers and day dreaming.

"There's no doubt that new technologies like talking or texting on cell phones are distracting drivers, but the old distractions are still there," the researchers said in a release. "The results of this study call into question whether anyone should be doing anything in their car except for putting both hands on the wheel, looking straight ahead and driving as carefully as a driver education student."

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told Cars.com at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit Monday young drivers need to be educated to keep their eyes on the road and realize their actions may have an impact on others.

1. Damn it! Now we're gonna have to wear blinders whe we drive.
The "force people to wear blinders movement" will show up any second now. Just mark my words, you've opened another can of worms here.

5. That's your mistake. Never take your wife with you when there will be
scantily clad good looking gals.
