Will The Clintons Eventually Seek Revenge On Heilemean & Halperin?
Ever so quietly will they stick the knife into this pair of gossips? Someone here referred to them as the TMZ of politics and it fits. A lot of what they wrote was unnecessary and some of it was downright ugly..

1. So you automatically write a hit post on the Clintons?
Whom else have they "stuck a knife in"? Surely you have a body count of previous victims of their vengeance?

3. Really ?
You think they'll take this lightly? You don't think they payback disloyalty and slaps across the face? Those two just told the world her husband is still having affairs. I'm betting there's payback, it will be served cold and it will be deserved.

4. Yeah that struck me as odd. The clintons don't target people for revenge for speaking out. That is
what the Cheney administration did and probably still do.

5. How many people who've crossed the Clintons with petty smears have they "taken out"? None.
Going by the numbers, taking cheap shots at the Clintons is easy, readily rewarded, and entirely without negative consequences. I can't think of anyone who kicked either of them who they late went after. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't seem to be grudge holders at all. Sure, they steam roller people who get between them and their future goals, but most pols want to do that. They're just highly competitive. Once you've finished knifing them, they really don't seem to go after you. They're ruthless, but hardly vindictive.

11. No One Said Anything About People Being "Taken Out"
There are many ways of getting even with people. Like, say, endorsing Newsom over Brown. You can use your influence to see that certain reporters lose access. There are myriad ways to get even and many of them have been used since the beginning of politics.

13. No, instead you wrote "stick the knife into this pair of gossips".
If you're going to be disingenuous about my use of the phrase "taken out" then you shouldn't use the even more inflammatory phrase "stick the knife into".

14. It's An Idiom For Gawd's Sake
"put/stick the knife in (British & Australian informal)
to do or say something unpleasant to someone in an unkind way 'No one in the office likes you, you know, Tim', she said, putting the knife in. The reviewer from The Times really stuck the knife in, calling it the worst play he'd seen in years."

16. I think y'all have it wrong - Clintons and Halperins go way back, and it's funny how so many forget
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 10:04 AM by blm
that as late as 2006 Bill fawned over Halperin's hitpiece book on Gore and Kerry that made them seem laughable nothings while praising both Clinton and Bush. DailyKos had an ad up at one point in 2006 showing Clinton's praise for Halperin and Harris' book that was truly vicious and wholly inaccurate in its assignment of blame while praising the influence of RW liars on the so-called 'mainstream press. As if the 'mainstream press' was not culpable for deliberately downplaying or outright muting Gore and Kerry's counters to the amplified lies and distortions.

If anything, Halperin likely softened many of the episodes in deference to Clintons and their circle.

Clintons and the Halperins (Morton is Mark's dad) have had a relationship that spans a couple decades at least.

10. No.
Hillary's got a good job--probably the last one she'll ever have, if she holds it for eight years--and Bill isn't running for anything.
