Let the Record Show: None of the MSM covered Intro of Articles of Impeachment against Cheney...
Pretty damning evidence that the MSM is controlled by corporate interests.

So what are they going to report if Cheney is actually impeached? We were there when this all began? I don't think so.

37. Unfortunately, some of the widely viewed liberal sites
didn't post anything about it either. Only Rawstory and Huffpo (and they just linked to the Rawstory article). That's all I could find.

Nothing on Dailykos, Americablog, Truthout, TPM or any of the others...Sad, but true.

Hopefully with all the 'news' cheney generated today, the networks will HAVE to report on the articles of impeachment. hopefully.

4. I agree.
I think that a couple things will happen: first, as you note, the corporate media will not report on this; second, the snakes will begin trying to marginalize Dennis K in their usual ways, including the tired and weak bit about "impeachment is dangerous!"

7. I think you are right, and that is what is coming up when CNN interviews DK next....
The purpose will be to try and show him as a far out radical, impugn his credibility. Downplay any charges alleged in the articles of impeachment.

33. Bullshit
It can succeed if we stop merely complaining about the administration and start to take some responsibilty in our governance. Call Pelosi, Reid, and our local Reps and ask them to stand up for the Constitution and support the Articles of Impeachment. Saying "it willnever pass" is the easy way out. It is time for us to demand action.

17. Correct.
Surely they recognize the connection between the two. If the House moves forward, I think three democrats in the House will become "mainstream": Dennis, Waxman, and Hinchey. The NY Congressman is known as "VP Cheney's worst enemy" in Congress. These three will coordinaqte efforts through the summer.

Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 05:12 PM by avrdream
This is exactly what I was talking about in that post.

As much as I like Hillary, the "news" should be about much more important topics. I'm worn out with the MSM.

19. I don't agree with your analysis. That seems like the simplistic interpretation.
Whether we like it or not the MSM didn't cover it because it wasn't news.

Wake me up when articles of impeachment are introduced that have broad bi-partisan support and a chance of even making it out of the judiciary committee

Expecting MSN to break to live coverage or make it a top story on the nightly news is pretty silly.

Please don't let our need for cathartic gestures make us sloppy thinkers. It's so easy to blame everything on a vast conspiracy rather than accepting simple pragmatic facts. MSM presents news to make MONEY. Thus, they present the news that they think will capture viewers. A basically benign gesture by a person few in the public (and this is a real tragedy, don't get me wrong) take seriously who is acting alone without any support from his party isn't news. It isn't even interesting to most people.

I admire Dennis for his guts, and I hope maybe it will be a first step toward something serious, but I don't blame the media one bit for not dropping everything to cover it. If I was a news director, I wouldn't have. It will get appropriately covered tomorrow with the level of attention it warrants.

I'm sorry this is tough to hear, but just because we don't like the facts doesn't mean we shouldn't accept them.

34. Of course it is! You seriously can't be this naieve.
"Newsworthy" means whatever will generate the most ratings. Whether you like it or not, for-profit news companies know that Anna Nicole smith sells. An unpopular (sad but true) congressperson making a mostly symbolic gesture of something that will never even make it out of committee is not exactly going to cause John Q. Public to watch CNN.

There are very bad things about corporate controlled media. But the worst of them are not grand conspiracies - it is the fact that when PROFIT drives news, you don't get news. You get tabloid journalism. That's what we've got, and that's why it shouldn't be surprising that the story didn't get carried.

And its not because corporate news make a conscious calculated decision not to run it because "they're bush supporters." They are profit supporters. They bash bush when they deem it profitable to do so and they support bush when they deem it profitable to do so.

CNN Situation with Blitzer had Kucinich on after his remarks to discuss it. But let me tell you they found all 3 pictures in existence where cheney does not look like an evil SOB and showed them over and over.

CNN international showed the conference live but not in it's entirety

Hello? Almost total media deregulation, resulted in almost every single media outlet being owned by five or six conservative bush administration supporters, all of which are corporate entities that put the profits of stockholders before EVERYTHING else, such as journalistic integrity or human life.

There is no news any more. There is only profit generation. Stop holding on to the dead past. It's over.
