Why is it that legislators always go to citing law enforcement or the military as

the only worthy groups when it comes to being caused damage? I just watched a clip from the congressional hearing on bank CEO compensation and bonuses, and I'll be darned if it law enforcement pension holders weren't the only group stated by the legislator as aggrieved parties whose funds were used to place bad bets. What is this mentality that only people associated with certain professions are considered worthy by legislators? Is the scope of discourse so limited and geared to incumbency that the greater public cannot be viewed as being harmed? I've seen this happen again and again in Congress. Unless you carry a gun for a living, you are relegated to the status of cash register. Ka-ching! And it is irritating. Now I recognize the need for both of these professions, but dammit they exist as part of a social contract and the greater public funds them to begin with. Not all other work is unworthy nor are the needs of those who do this other work.
