Brown Says He's Unfamiliar with Tea Partiers; Campaign Pix Say Otherwise

On Wednesday, Republican senate candidate Scott Brown told reporters in Massachusetts that he was "unfamiliar" with the "Tea Party movement," despite receiving the endorsement of a key national Tea Party group which is currently raising money for his campaign to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

But Brown's claim to be unfamiliar with the Tea Party movement is belied by photographs produced by his own campaign.

Late this evening, TPM Reader NM alerted us to the fact that Brown's official campaign Flickr stream contains photographs of the candidate addressing Tea Party groups on the campaign trail only months ago.

One picture, uploaded on September 8th, 2009, is titled "Sen. Brown addressing the Worcester Tea Party."

Polls show the race between Brown and Democrat Martha Coakley is currently a toss-up.

6. Well he seems to be full of lies, or at the very least, mistruths...

OK, so Martha Coakley has a campaign ad out listing all of Scott Brown's dubious statements and acts, complete with source references.

Yesterday I saw Brown's ad refuting those claims, saying they're all untrue and nothing more than an attempt to "attack" him. OK, fine. But he doesn't bother to say WHERE, or WHY those statements are untrue. He doesn't give people his side of the story, just whines about how Coakley's campaign is unfairly maligning him.

Although he did manage to get some sort of message out refuting the claim that he wanted to deny rape victims access to emergency contraception, stating only that he "didn't want to force Catholic hospitals" to have to dispense it. In this column, he is cited with saying that rape victims should just back in the car and drive to another hospital...

I realize that not everyone is happy with Martha Coakley, but just this one attitude from Scott Brown is something we don't need, or want, here in Mass.
