Please talk with your employers about matching funds to give to Haiti.
Those of you who still have jobs(!), ask your employers to consider matching your donations so that you can double the money given. No doubt that some businesses have stopped or slowed down giving, but especially the larger ones should be pushed into a corner to give back. If you are afraid to ask on your own then get a group of workers together to go ask, following up with an email to the higher-ups. My husband is going to do this today with the contracting company he works for as well as the place where he's contracted to which deals in medical supplies.

1. Agh. Wish I could.
Charity is such a tetchy subject in my office. We have a couple of "I got mine, go get your own" republicans in the office (NOT high level brass, btw) who spoil it for the rest of us, most of whom are good and decent people. So the official charity position (as of 12/09) is: "if you want to give to charity, that's your business. We make no endorsements, and our corporate giving is a private matter."

If I could afford it, I'd offer to match funds my own self. I've already given more than I can really afford.

2. My employer just donated $100,000 to the Red Cross
And is matching gifts from employees.

Most larger companies offer matching gift programs. Your reminder to take advantage of it is timely.
