http://www.invasor.cu/index.php/es/component/content/article/28--cuba/3096-henry-reeve-cuban-medical-brigade-in-haiti

"The medical brigade, which has experience in China, Pakistan, Guatemala, Indonesia and Bolivia, joined the rest of the health staff that was located there, which is helping citizens since the beginning of the tragedy.

Cuban authorities sent medicines, saline solutions and blood serum, food and provisions as part of the solidarity aid.

More than one thousand patients were seen and 19 operations were carried out up until Wednesday afternoon, reported Cuban Television."

The artilcle title is: Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti

Since the MSM will probably only mention the Red Cross and well known associations and would never mention Cuban doctors - this is worthwhile to know, but their participation could have been predicted because of their fine reputation.

The article is dated today - so they were already providing medical services prior to the earthquake.

4. As I posted elsewhere there are Cuban doctors and nurses
in every Caribbean territory - don't know what we'd do without them. I think there are between 30 and 50 in Haiti.
They set up a field hospital next to the main hospital within hours of the earthquake. Many work in the Public hospitals and some work in rural government clinics

5. Nobody talks about...
Cuba's strategic geographical location. I suspect this has a lot to do with US policy toward Haiti and I'd like to hear more discussion about "geography" in the hopes that it might engender solutions that are kinder and less strong-arm. I feel incredibly sad about Haiti.

the U.S., France, and Canada (I keep forgetting Canada when I post)I read everything I had time for and I could not get a really good clue about why we did it. What wouldn't go away - to this day - is the throught I had that it had plenty to do with banking manipulations, plus Cuba. I think we were hearing about Castro's health and I processed lots of thoughts that we were preparing to take control - if he died. So the CIA and Mafia could run things again with some new (so-called) President from the Cuban-American population of the U.S. I'm making that up, but the Cuban connection never left me. I'm still waiting to read a case laid out explaining why. Other than he was probably too left and possibly not 'bendable' enough for those who wanted to continue to rob the earth resources, including human labor.

A couple of posters on DU made claims that Aristede robbed the country. I asked for links and got nothing.
