MSNBC is reporting that the US feels there is a new credible threat of terrorist
attack from Yemen. I don't have any other info.

1. So what's the REAL motivation here?
In Afghanistan, it's the pipelines and the poppies. In Iraq, it's oil.

What the Hell do the corporations want with Yemen?

3. You don't suppose there's an actual terrorist threat, do you?
Nah, that's not tin foily enough.

9. No, I do not.
I don't believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, safe Monsanto products, or Al Qaeda.

All of them are pure fiction.

18. And the underwear bomber?
All that time spent in Yemen was really somewhere else?

19. The underwear bomber is a psycho rich kid who couldn't even light his own dick on fire sucessfully
And he's Nigerian. Should we invade there too?

25. Sounds like you spend a lot of your life living in fear.
For you there's boogeymen everywhere. You'll invent them if they don't actually exist.

Such a waste.

29. You have that exactly backwards (not like that is unusual for you)
I do not live in fear. That's why I do not buy in to the myth of "Al Qaeda", or to the insane fantasy that some backwards piece of sand like Yemen presents any threat to the USA.

To believe either one is simply fucking insane.

35. No, Sebastian.
Believing that the CIA secretly trained the underwear bomber and wasn't really in Yemen is simply fucking insane.

12. You always have to wonder, but the reality is there are terrorists with designs
on us. It's difficult to know what's valid and what's manufactured. I always suspect ulterior motives, but sometimes a cigar...

Now all that's required is grim looking generals in tailored fatigues and a rousing chorus of "God Bless America".

20. I'm not saying the Gov't didn't give more specifics, just that I didn't catch all
they were saying. You may be right, but just wanted you to realize I was the one without any specifics -- they may have given them.

I'm not so sure this Administration wants to bang the drum of fear any more than it already has -- the outrage at the money being added to our "war efforts" surely would make them move forward with caution. Surely? :7

another country on our hit list - for no particular reason.

If there isn't a credible threat to the U.S. from there now, we'll do our best to make it so in the future.

23. So, we all bitched about Shrb ignoring the PDB in Mid Aug.
about anattack on the US, but NOW you want us to believe if a Prez DOES read them, HE'S wrong too?

I don't see the "color warnings" that Shrub had all the damn time! Even Chuck Todd aid they were given very little info on this. I did hear one enator say that we don't want to release too much info because we don't want everyone to know just how much we know.

I was right with you on the "using terror threats to scare everybody" from the Pugs, but I don't see it happening with this WH. It's the media's job to report what they hear, and for sure they don't do that all the time! Pay attention, because there really are groups of people who would LOVE to do an attack on the US, but let's stop assuming everyhing done by every Dept in Wash. DC is out to deceive you.

Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 02:56 PM by upi402
She had Colin Powell on. Before that, she was challenging the Obama stance of taxing banks to get our loans back.
It's like Faux News, "I'm just asking..." It's a threat without any evidence. Like Iraq.

She is the wife of Alan Greenspan. nuf said.

34. NEW terrorist threat from the Middle East?
.
.
.

Are you saying that just because the West is slaughtering people in the MIddle East that they might retaliate!

I say

COUNT ON IT.

Maybe it won't happen in my lifetime, but I am certain that North America, sadly, Canada included

will pay dearly for our involvement in the deaths of innocent Muslims in the Middle East as a result of our callous regard to human life - what our military leaders call "collateral damage"

Well,

we all over here in North America are overdue for some collateral damage of our own

(sigh)
