Senators propose temporary increase in tax benefits for relief contributions

WASHINGTON - Some senators are trying to encourage charitable donations for Haitian earthquake victims by proposing a temporary increase in tax benefits for relief contributions.

The changes would be similar to those enacted after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005.

Under current law, individuals cannot apply tax write-offs to donations that are larger than 50 percent of their annual income. Corporations cannot apply write-offs to donations larger than 10 percent of their income.

1. Tell them to get off the tax tax tax. Encourage People to contribute

out of the goodness of their heart.

They are beginning to sound like Tax Tax Tax Vultures.

How many hidden taxes are in HCR Bill. It has been stated
over and over when they start Deficit Bills. All Taxes will
be raised. 80% of Americans believe their Health Insurance
Costs will go up. Fairly or unfairly, they count this as a tax.
(Money taken out of their check. The Government is turning
the Health Care over to Business.)

Charity and Compassion are plentiful among Americans. They
do not need to pay taxes. Has the Congress run out of money
and they want to fill the coffers under the mantle of Haiti????

I have observed Washington for a long time. Never have I seen
Democrats like these in all my life????They are politically tone
deaf. Ignore Constituents and the American people.

2. Who in the hell can afford to donate >50% of annual income???

I think if I was wealthy enough to be able to pull that off, I might not be so concerned about the lack of a write-off for a portion of my philanthropy.
