1. Did you see him tending to that infant girl's head wound? She was so tiny.
And he's jumped in before when he was reporting in Iraq (I think). I believe he's a neurosurgeon but he performed a surgery that wasn't his specialty on an American soldier. I think he's a good guy at heart.

3. I think thats why he got the job to begin with;
it was clear he was a good guy. I expect he ran into conflicts due to popularity.

5. Glad to hear
he's pitching in. Last night I yelled at the TV --"Sanjay, why are you talking on camera? You're a doctor! Get to work!"

6. Good to hear it
People tend to pitch in when faced with that much suffering.

8. If Arthur Kent was the "Scud Stud"...
...then I dub Sanjay Gupta the "Scrub Stud".

If he's healing people, he deserves that nickname. ;-)

10. He did a good job with the little girl - but they have re-run that same bit over and over
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 01:36 AM by csziggy
I saw it originally live this afternoon. Now CNN has edited it down and is running once or twice an hour.

I was impressed by Dr. Gupta's reactions - he was presented with the baby and told she had a head injury. She was tightly wrapped and not moving or reacting at all. D. Gupta was slightly frantic - at first he thought she might be paralyzed or have a severe brain injury. Once he unwrapped her and she woke up, started moving and crying, he did as complete an exam as he could without high tech equipment and concluded that although she had a scalp laceration, she did not have a skull fracture. I could see the relief as he made that realization and relaxed a little.
