Texas School Textbooks to Turn Joe McCarthy Into 'Hero'?? LINK
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/01/the_rehabilitation_of_joseph_mccarthy_texas_textbo.php?ref=fpa

Revisionist history is too tame to describe such a project. It points out that efforts are being made to turn the disgraced former Wisconsin Senator into a hero by arguing that history has 'vindicated him.'

And according to the article if they are successful in Texas, the same textbooks will be sold to smaller states with this disinformation included.

1. And they wonder why education has been failing for students?
As long as crooks as these are allowed to dictate the education for other states the USA will continue to fail in teaching the students.

2. That's why Texas needs a Dem Governor
to stop this nonsense and burn the books to crisp and never seen again.

Those revisionist assholes has GOT to stop trying to influence children with disinformation.

3. On the other hand, this sort of nonsense may offer bright Texas high school students an opportunity
to learn that authority figures don't always tell you the truth. It could be fun to see a website "The Lies in Your Texas Schoolbooks" directed at teenagers

4. You can thank Pat Robertson, Oral Roberts and the Moral Majority
They pushed the fundie batshit crazy to get elected to school boards and local councils, etc. in order to push the agenda.

5. Conservatives seem to turn tyrants into heroes
But only if they're similar to themselves.

8. So the man who ruined many careers
by branding people Communist sympathizers and waving around a piece of paper "listing" the names of "Communists" in the State Department (which turned out to be blank) has been vindicated?

:wtf:

9. McCarthy has been vindicated?
Vindicated by whom, exactly? Ann Coulter doesn't count.

12. Kind of ironic
The fellow in your avatar (RFK) and McCarthy were actually pretty close friends. McCarthy was a frequent visitor to the Kennedy compound, and actually dated a few of the Kennedy daughters.
