The jackasses that made fire resistant cigarettes commonplace should be forced to...
Suck on a fucking pacifier 24/7.

What an fucknut concept.

If I wanted to suck that much, that hard -- constantly, I think I'd want something else in my mouth.

That is all. Carry on.

1. They should be forced to buy me new lighters.

4. How many people burned to death would it be worth not to have to deal with these cigarettes?
People are often horribly burned from cigarettes that have started a fire when forgotten or left unattended.

Quite often it's the smokers that burn themselves to death.

14. Have you been in a car since, oh, 1910?
There are a number of safety feature in cars these days.

Seat belts. Crumple zones. Airbags. Windshields. Brakes. Rubber tires. Bumpers. Headlights.

I could go on.

18. I know a guy who burned to death from a fire caused by a cigarette.
According to his live in girlfriend a third his age, he ran screaming from his house fully aflame and crumpled on his lawn screaming before he died. I presume he would have lasted several minutes in agonizing pain before succumbing to his burns, although that was not in the newspaper account.

I would also presume that his brandy-soaked flesh and the thick woolen sweaters he preferred did not help the issue.

22. Gah, that sucks
I get the reason. If it was just the people who smoke in bed and burn themselves, I'd be even more meaner in my rant. There are other factors I'm sure.

But geesh... umm... with that thinking there should be fences around all ditches. After a rain, someone may trip and drown.

30. And with your thinking there should be no safety provisions on anything..
Ground fault interrupters trip out sometimes when no one is being shocked, that's inconvenient, we should eliminate them even though they save lives.

19. In all fairness, people don't usually light firecrackers in bed!
I'm not even sure about cigars in bed? AFAIK that's the main reason they make that crap.

I was being sarcastic a tad.

It all reminds me of a Steven Wright piece.

Like.. "so I bought some fire resistant cigarettes. . . it went out"

28. They don't really NEED to do it to long-filler cigars
If you don't "actively smoke" a long-filler cigar it will go out on its own. Short-filler cigars probably aren't that way, but a short-filler cigar is essentially a big cigarette.

21. They are annoying.
I hadn't smoked in years, but last week at a wedding I went out with my friends for a smoke. I had to relight mine three times before I figured out what was going on.

23. and they don't work
They cause more burns than before because the bands remain lit and when they fall off they can and often do ignite whatever they fall on including your hand or any other exposed skin and hair. I've got more holes in fabric furniture, carpeting and clothing because of this then ever before. They also don't go out if the ember touches anything flamable in the ashtray, like other exstinguished butts, and just plain don't always go out anyway for no particular reason. Yet they can always be counted on to go out when you don't want them to especially outside.

Not only do they cause more burns and possible fires than before since they don't work as intended they make people less careful about their lit cigs.

25. And all the sucking can't be healthy
I know that is totally an odd statement, but I feel I smoke MORE of each cigarette now because of this impediment.

Maybe 50 years from now more will get lip cancer than lung, who knows.
