Missed the TX debate tonight and searched for it online and caught the very ending which turned out to include a commercial for Lockheed (and AARP). Maybe I'll catch a replay or a highlights clip, but I was struck by the fact that this debate was "made possible" by Lockheed.
The airwaves do, after all is said and done, belong to the public, right? And this debate was a part of our electoral process, part of our democracy, right? So why does Lockheed, or any other corporation or interest group, have to make it "possible?" Wtf?
Here is the quote, without the actual Lockheed commercial, from this link:
http://texasdebates.org/, which streamed the debate and evidently will have it available for later viewing.
"The Texas Debates are made possible, in part, by Lockheed Martin, AARP and other generous donors from our community."
:wtf:
