Anti-abortion bill advances in Kentucky
Anti-abortion bill advances in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- A bill requiring doctors to show ultrasound images of their fetuses to all women seeking abortions advanced Thursday in the Kentucky Legislature.

A Senate committee approved Senate 38 unanimously, The (Louisville) Courier-Journal reported. That allows it to go to the Senate floor for a vote.

In the past, bills attempting to reduce the number of abortions in Kentucky have stalled in the House after passing the Senate.

Republican state Sen. Elizabeth Tori said the bill goes further than a similar one she sponsored last year. The current measure requires doctors to explain the details of the ultrasound to women, including showing them how many fetuses are involved and pointing out visible body parts such as arms and legs.

1. I am so damned sick of these woman-hating pro-forced birthers.
as one famous bumper sticker reads, "if you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a child?"

treating women like incompetent idiots who have no idea what they are doing, and have to be forced to come to the conclusions that these bastards (male and female) want.

I wish I believed in hell, because that is where they all belong.

3. Will Kentucky also pass a bill
REQUIRING all Doctors to look at police/hospital pictures of rape victims damage and have the police point out specific portions of the woman's body that have been brutalized?

This is a heinous bill coming from utterly heartless individuals who have NO compassion for women, at ALL.

6. Like that would work
From what I have read, lethal injection executions are very gruesome for the...here insert your choice of convict or victim; I would definitely list Cameron Todd Willingham as a victim. You can't breathe because of the paralyzing agent you were given, but you're wide awake because the anesthetic wore off. The paralyzing agent makes you look all peaceful and happy--which of course you are not; you're freaking out because you woke up not being able to breathe and you're strapped the fuck down so you can't even get up to try to get help, which you won't get because you know they're killing you.

But the juries would look at the videos, the prosecutor would say "look how peaceful he looks!" and the jury would say "oh, that's not so bad."

The last prisoner to not suffer during his execution was John Albert Taylor in 1996, who was executed by firing squad in Utah. (Fun fact about firing squad executions: in addition to causing instantaneous death if properly performed, any organs not shot through can be harvested for donations.)

My opinion: get rid of lethal injection and require all executions to be by firing squad or guillotine. Those are such brutal forms of execution the jury is going to think long and hard before sentencing someone to either. (Another fun fact: the only allowable method for execution in France, right up until the time it was abolished, was the guillotine. Anti-death-penalty prosecutors and legislators kept it that way; before a murderer's sentencing hearing was conducted the prosecution would ask the jury if the crime really justified cutting the murderer in two. For some strange reason the crime never really justified that.)

10. Here's hoping it doesn't pass their Senate
And if it does, it's aborted in the House. Why not bills to help feed the starving children ALREADY BORN and living in Appalachia? Or to improve their HEALTH CARE, or EDUCATION? I bet a small tax on their bourbon exports could go a long way. Or am I just a bleeding-heart idiot?
