Report: Pistol Found Beyond Security Checkpoints At Cleveland Hopkins
CLEVELAND - Senator Sherrod Brown is calling for an investigation after a major security lapse at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.
Our Five On Your Side investigators uncovered a police report that confirms a fully loaded 40 caliber pistol was found in an airport bathroom far beyond security checkpoints back in October.
The gun was traced to a federal customs agent who didn’t know it was missing.
Kimberly Janke was flying home to Wisconsin when she discovered it.
“I can’t even express how that makes me feel,” she said. “They are supposed to be here to protect us.”
The federal agent was never disciplined and was allowed to retire.
So far, customs officials have not explained how a highly trained agent could commit such a serious security breach
