Haiti - 1/1000th as important as Afghanistan?
The President has announced that our government will give $100 million dollars in aid to Haiti. That is a lot of money and nothing to scoff at. However, we are spending 1000 times that much in Afghanistan this year. In the worst disaster of our lifetimes, we must question our priorities. In a disaster that may be 20 to 30 times more deadly than the WTC, where should we be spending our money? Is it because God is not a "terrorist"?

2. No pipelines or poppies in Haiti.
But that doesn't mean Halliburton & Blackwater aren't trying to swindle their way into Haiti even now..... just wait for the headlines. I give them a week at the most.

4. Man, this is an obnoxious post. Shall we give Haiti our entire education budget?
How about a big cut of USDA's bottom line?

5. I'm sorry you misinterpreted the post.
I was attempting to make a point that we are spending obscene amounts on wars and the military in places like Afghanistan and when we have a tragedy such as this earthquake in Haiti, it helps to put that obscene spending in perspective. Obviously, it didn't work with you?

6. The defense budget is obscene on many levels.
Our aid to Haiti should not be viewed through that lens.

7. Why not?
??

If we were not so bogged down in these military adventures, perhaps we could have gotten more help quicker to Haiti?
