Psychologist: Gay couples' children as well-adjusted as straight parents' kids

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A Cambridge University psychologist testifying Friday morning in a federal trial on California's same-sex marriage ban says children raised by homosexuals are as well-adjusted as children raised by a straight couple.

Michael Lamb also said many children with two mothers or two fathers would thrive even more if their parents were able to get married.

The federal trial, now in its fifth day, will decide if the Proposition 8 gay marriage ban is constitutional.

Lamb's testimony is being used in an attempt to undercut arguments by Proposition 8's sponsors that restricting marriage to a man and woman can be justified by the need to foster procreation and to make sure that children are raised by their biological parents.

1. IMO, loving parents, regardless of their sexual orientation, are more likely to

raise well-adjusted children.
