Well here we go... rumors and misunderstandings
CNN showing a CLASSIC of familiarity with food and all that.

UN distributing high energy biscuits... World Food Program bisquets, but the problem is that they did not understand the date marking on it.

And this is part of the challenge in distributing food in any of these situations. They almost had a riot...

1. I don't understand why they don't have people line up.

And then have one person explain the dates to them.
They need the marines there now.

2. I saw that...
...very upsetting.

I hope they are able to communicate with people and allay their suspicions. Those people are desperate and do not have access to TV like we do right now, so they do no necessarily understand the massive effort that is underway right now. And from their point of view, 3 days after the initial earthquake initiated this massive disaster, now finally rescue teams are showing up, when it's too late for so many. Given their history, it is understandable that they are suspicious. But the results can be tragic. Here's hoping that the relief efforts can begin to blanket the area and people begin to trust that real help is being provided.

5. I was not surprsied... this is familiarity
if I gave you those same food bars... the codes are something you understand. You are familiar with them because we eat them. This is like when they brought in Smoked Salmon and Pickled Herring to Mexico City... the best of intentions... yes it ended up in the black market. The people that it was intended for did not know what to do with them.

As we used to black gallows humor say it, they are not hungry enough yet either... and quite frankly it will not get there... since the supplies are now in.

3. I'm trying to put myself into the minds of those in need

Not sure that standing nicely in line and sweetly waiting for food works well for those under that kind of stress.
