I am sorry. I know we should do whatever we can for these people. I will be donating to Christian relief groups. But it just bothers me when people will not take the initiative to help themselves, you know?

That is what everyone saw from New Orleans after Katrina. The media failed to show much of Mississippi, which bore the brunt of the storm, because the folks there followed the old tenet : "GOD helps those that help themselves." It just wasn't the "heart wrenching" story that sitting and doing nothing is.

All these stories about the Haitians complaining no one has yet come to rescue them. Maybe 3M people affected (capital alone had 1M). Estimates are 50k dead. Doubtless more injured, perhaps 100-200K. But that leaves a couple million uninjured Haitians who aren’t working the problem. Don’t they have any bulldozers of their own, or even shovels, in the whole country? Don’t stack bodies, dig some mass graves. In disasters of this size you can’t afford the niceties of identifying the dead and individual burial; throw them all in a big hole, archbishop and all, say a couple prayers and move to the next task. These people are pathetic, even without the earthquake, and Obama wants us to become just like them! Wards of big government, unable to change our own diapers.

I heard reports of Haitians trying to dig people out of buildings with their bare hands because they had no equipment. There are probably many well-to-do Americans who wouldn't want to dig through rubble if it meant breaking a fingernail.
