He had to surrender his passport. He is out on bond.

I find it difficult to muster much sympathy for these grown men who play ball in short pants for lots of money but can't seem to follow the rules.

Arenas Pleads Guilty to Felony Gun Charge

WASHINGTON — Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas pleaded guilty Friday to one count of carrying a pistol without a license in the District of Columbia.

Arenas’s plea was part of a plea agreement; he could have faced four charges instead of one.

The felony carries a maximum penalty of five years of incarceration, but the assistant United States attorney Chris Kavanaugh said prosecutors would not seek a term greater than the bottom of the guideline, which is six months.

“We are pleased,” Kavanaugh said as he left the courtroom.

Arenas is scheduled to be sentenced March 26, and he will remain free while he awaits sentencing.

1. I'm not defending this guy at all but
isn't it disturbing that the African American jocks get the book thrown at them, and yet the REAL criminals (Halliburton, Blackwater, Gold Mansacks, the Bush Crime Family, etc. ) continue to do far worse without ever so much as a serious investigation?

I mean out of all the rich black men that have been prosecuted the last few years, only Vick probably really deserved to do hard time. (Well, OJ did, but not for stealing his own shit.)

2. Famous multimillionaire? Never heard of the guy.
Oh, ok, I've heard of some sports dude brandishing a gun someplace. So this guy's become famous because of this?

This country is so weird.
