(United WorldNews Daily) In a surprise move early Saturday morning, President Obama signed an emergency executive order intended to bolster the Haitian relief effort by drafting hundreds of commentators from around the internet and blogosphere.

"The situation demands expertise and decisiveness," said the President, "and it's clear that these unaccountable private citizens know how to distribute food, water, and medicine better than than the thousands of aid professionals already at work in Haiti."

Obama further noted that the internet is awash in recommendations about how to get resources where they're needed most.

"Just dump it out the back of a fucking C130," opined Dem27, a frequent poster on the Subterranean Progressive discussion forum. "For fuck's sake!" added Dem27.

"They should pull the Carl Vinson into port and get to work already," suggested FedUpForever, an independent blogger.

When asked how he expected the USS Carl Vinson to dock in a port effectively destroyed by the earthquake, FedUpForever declined to comment.

"For too long we've relied on qualified experts experienced in the field," President Obama said in closing remarks Saturday morning. "It's long past time that we turned to the unimpeachable wisdom of anonymous bloggers and discussion board gadflies. With their guidance and leadership, I'm sure that Haiti will come through this crisis more or less unscathed. Let's give the nameless, faceless second-guessers the chance to succeed where we have failed."

threads to not politicize anything going on in Haiti..as I am a lady who lost a home and went through the Northridge earthquake and lost everything..

EVERYTHING.....

and had to start life over with nothing ..nothing ..after the 1994 Northridge Earthquake..no one has more sympathy or empathy than I do of the suffering that the people of Haiti are going through..

I also was left homeless ..and had to shit and piss in buckets for months and months ..
and sleep on mattresses in my back yard for months as my house was Red tagged and condemned.

Tommorrow will be the 16th anniversary of my family losing everything..but each other..we were lucky and I learned a valueable lesson of which will live with me forever..

What we lost was "stuff"..stuff can be replaced..but lives can not. A house is bricks and morter and wood and sheetrock..and money only makes things easier..but lives.. there is nothing that can replace our lives, and the lives of our loved ones.

I was a lady who stood up for my neighbors and community and went After Bob Dole in his home state newspapers..front pages in fact.. when he was holding up aide to us in Calif for political reasons..after, at the time, the worst $$ disaster in US History ..before Katrina.

It is one reason I fight for others...that are not as fortunate as my family.

We survived.

Haiti and Cuba signed a medical cooperation agreement in 1998. Present in Haiti before the earthquake struck were 344 members of the Cuban medical brigade who have been providing primary care, obstetrical services, and operations to restore the sight of Haitians with various eye diseases. Earlier this week, Cuba sent 30 more physicians along with food, medicine, plasma, and other items.

According to Spanish press reports, this contingent is already providing emergency medical care across Haiti for patients that Cuban doctors had already been treating for many years. Immediately following the earthquake, these doctors opened up two make-shift clinics in their residences because local hospitals were destroyed. Experts, doing it by the book, prioritising situations and ensuring equitable distribution of resources are all to often a recipe for disaster.

Ordinary people just digging in, doing what they can with the resources they have to hand have a far, far better track record than the experts, when it comes to dealing with large scale disasters.

Yes such rescuers do put themselves in danger, and sometimes are injured or even killed. Yes some victims do get "over serviced" while others miss out. However, things start happening a hell of a lot faster.

"Qualified" experts are all to prone: to doing nothing at all constructive until they have a full assesment of a situation; to not move until/unless the situation is safe/stabilised; to refuse assistance unless it comes with the right paperwork.

It is one thing to play it safe when the number of lives on the line is similar to or less than the number of emergency services personel involved, but when there are thousands or tens of thousands at risk "safe" costs lives, cutting corners saves.
