Sandra Bullock Donates $1 Million to Doctors Without Borders

January 15th, 2010 6:00 pm / Author: Nicole Eggenberger
Sandra Bullock made a donation Friday of $1 Million to Doctors Without Borders Emergency Operations for Haiti Earthquake relief efforts. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) received a $1 million donation from Sandra on Friday.

The actress made the donation to support the organization’s emergency medical operations responding to the devastation caused by the Jan. 12 earthquake that struck Haiti. “I wanted to ensure that my donation would be used immediately to meet the needs of the Haitian people affected by this catastrophic event,” Sandra said.

Currently, each of MSF’s existing three medical facilities in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, have been partially damaged.

There are 25 new MSF staff members, including additional surgical teams, expected to join the organization’s 800 international and Haitian staff already working there today.

3. Someone needs to come up with a definitive list of celebrities and their Haiti donations
I guess the flurry of press releases serve a dual purpose--while it certainly buys publicity for the celeb it hopefully also prompts others to donate.

20. Wells Fargo is touting that they are giving 100,000
and that's good but I can't help but feel just a little uncharitable when that's compared to celebrities who are giving 10 - 30 times that.

25. And here I thought she was just a vapid starlet who got by on her looks. My bad.
I guess I shouldn't judge people by the movies
they've appeared in.

I have a newfound appreciation for Sandra Bullock
as a PERSON.
